I was thinking about a couple of women in tight catsuits, half unzipped (as you do while bored at work

) and I remembered the Cannonball Run and the Countach that featured. One of my all time favorites (the car not the film).
It got me thinking about what cars I remembered from TV and a memory came flooding back from the New Avengers - Steeds Broadspeed Jag XJ Coupe with the fat wheelarches. As a kid this rocked my world because you just didn't see anything like it on the roads.
It was the start of a long slippery slope into petrolhead-dom
What were you guys' favourite motors from the big and little screens ?

Kit from Knight Rider - I wanted a car that talked. Unfortunately the nearest I ever came to it was nearly buying an Austin Maestro as my first car - that spoke if you left the lights on (or something). Fortunately I saw the error of my ways and bought a Ford Fiesta <D'oh!>

NOW YOU GOT ME STARTED!!!
Well there was the ubiquitous DB5 that James Bond used to drive, BMT 214A which became BMT 216A in Goldfinger as memory serves...
Then I have to confess, once steed traded in that bentley for the Jag I was a strict convert! Even lusting after the Saints ( Simon Templar aka Roger More) for his White XJ/S... Of course his Jensen Inerceptor was even cooler being a 7 litre V8!! Reg "ST 1"
For my money you can keep the A team Van and K.I.T.T. they were not worthy but Street Hawk!! the Motorbike with turbo boost! now that was cool.
But no list would be complete without the lazer cycles from Tron!
Did I miss any?
Well maybe the general Lee from the Dukes of hazzard, cos I always tried to jump my cars like theres but they fell apart...
Then there was Chugga Boom, the old faithful run around driven by the ant hill mob in Penelopy Pittstop and the hooded claw. but I feel we are scraping the the bottom of the barrell now....
Does that give away my vintage by any chance....
Ps. RE Canonball run, I always liked the japanese car with stealth mode and night vision. you see this was a forerunner for Lexus but we didn't know it!
Loz
PPS. Remember Smokey and the Bandit? Well I guess at some point the Trans-am was a fave of mine too... all that burning rubber and hot girls sweeten the memory. Burt reynold had a great job! remember when they made one without him. What mistake!
on a separate thread, do you think Burt reynolds spawned the fad of the old Porn Star Mustache?? think about it..... it would make sense.

The car from Starsky and Hutch - remember in the 70's some people with red cars would but a white stripe on it?!

Oh yeah!!!
Remember it well it was a Ford but the exact model eludues me at present. what a cool car. remember huggy bears pimp-mobile and the catch phrase that always paid?
"Well, the word on the street is..."
Beats me why Huggy didn't run the police force as he seemed to know how to solve just about every serious crime!

Yeah that was a great car - Ford Torino. Still got a Corgi model with the two plastic characters holding some misfit up against the car !!
There used to be some saddo near where I lived with a red Vauxhall Viva and he painted the Starsky and Hutch white stripe down the sides - BY HAND - nice job

My all time fave movie car has to be the Dodge Charger, whether its in General Lee guise, or the baddies car in Bullit
There is no way that that Mustang in Bullit would have beat the Dodge Charger
I love the sound of big, lazy, american v8's that do 5 MPG
5 MPG? thats a bit like the IS really............

Chris,
Does, "always wanted" reference the Capri, equate to "...so I bought one and this is it, taken at the owners club meeting that I still organise!"
just wondering....
Ps. think the car in Hardcakes and McComic is the Ultima Kit car. proper beasty!! wasn't the old guy brian Keith and drove a truck, cant remember how they came to be a crime fighting duo though. anyone refresh my memory...
Cheers in anticipation,
