dont think its the fuel flap, its on the wrong side and the other flap release is where the 1st aid box goes ! fuel cut off may be right though, will check it out, someone else reckons it may be to turn of the self levelling suspension (its got air) but same again will have to check it out !! thanks for the help. Could be a reset switch for the fuel cut off. I had a Mundaneo once that had an inertia cut off for the fuel.

tried switching it to off,but still starts,so not a fuel cut off,but like you said could be the reset button for when it takes a bang, hopefully wont be trying it out then !!!! Ian

If you have tems it will probably be for that, you will probably notice a differnce in ride with it off.

Got reversing sensors? My Lexus kit came with a switch so that you can disable it when towing.

Its the on/off switch for the air suspension.
It must be turned off when raising the car, or wheels, off the ground.
Damage could be done to the strut airbags if left on.
If left off, self levelling will be inoperative, and over a long period of time (depending on condition of struts) car will settle down very low, eventually onto its bump stops, so dont forget to turn it back on again before driving.

Here is the relevent section from the owners manual.

Hello! the button/switch is for your suspension, you are supposed to turn it off before jacking the car up and then turn it back on when the car is off the jack, to prevent damage to the air suspension. hoipe this helps!!

sorry didn't see your reply above

My Celsior must be a one off as it has TEMS with coilovers not air suspension and although not introduced until 1995 the exhaust is all stainless steel.
