I went to Birmingham today and when I got back to my car I see that some f :tsktsk: keyed my car! Four panels on the passenger side are affected. Why would someone do that? I am so angry that someone would do that to a car. It has never happened to me before and I am fuming as I type this.

Anyone got any ideas about cost to respray? Or the best course of action. The marks don't seem that deep but what do I know, I'm not a bodyshop expert.
mr frosty
Gutted for you fella, I know how this feels.

Just mindless idiots probably jealous of a nice expensive motor or kids doin it for it some sort of kick?
Either way, they deserve to rot! :tsktsk:

I would get a quote from a local reputable spray shop, it needs to be repaired properly to keep the Lexus paint warranty. You may even need to have it repaired thru Lexus to maintain this, but it wont be cheap thru them.
My advice is stay clear of 'Chips Away' type companies........
GWilso
Can't give you a cost but any re-spray at a desent garage will respray the whole panel not just the affected areas and for 4 panels I can only imagine your not talking hundreds feel for you mate what sort of wa :tsktsk: ka would do that insurance should cover it although personally like to leave the insurance company as a last resort if i can help it

I looked into a complete respray of my is200 recentley and was qouted £2000 upwards
hope this helps
Let us know how you get on

check your insurance, you'll prob find that you're covered for malicious damage. as for the worm that did it, karma will repay him.
Pip
Are the scratches too deep for scratch X or T-cut?
Four panel respray for your area you are looking at some money, upwards of £1000.
I actually started thinking a few years back before i went anywhere whether the car was safe; especially with the escort cossy. Its just as bad with the mildly kitted lexus.

Its bad because the girlfriend used to ridicule me about how i used to think stuff about the 'car', thing is i have to with the scum out there.
In my own town i dont have to worry because ppl know whos car it is and leave it well alone. I can leave the road angel and minidisc etc on display. Not even a cat would fart on my car. Outside of town its a different matter especially Cardiff which is rife with car crime.

I really feel for you mate. I was gutted this week when i discovered a dink from some imbecile parking close to me. Just wish i could have caught them.

Absolute b@stards. May they die of renal failure.
alpappy
same happened to my son with a new yaris he bought the marks were all quite high so teh painter only sprayed the upper half of each panel and he placed a thin 2mm stripe on eh middle fold to loose the paint.. It looks perect now cost him 260 quif for teh side though

just makes you wonder what this country is coming to!!

Gutted for you mate, lovely car and some little s**t does that.

Hope it is not too bad and you get sorted out.
Scarlet Pimpernell
You are kidding!

The little bar stewards!! What did they get from doing that? Scum bags!

I would go through your insurance, get the job done properly and insist on a Lexus bodyshop if you can. It will cost you for excess and possibly NCB if you're not protected, but that would be my first option, especially on a car as lovely as yours.

Scratch X might work on parts of it - I would recommend you try it. You never know - you could be surprised by the result. Sometimes a good body shop (if you ask 'em) will try and buff it out for you, especially as you say it's not too deep. Take lots of advice from reputable body shops.

A good one in Leicester is Glenn's Auto's on Kitchener road. Looks back road, but he is one of the most experienced in Leicester.

Nothing is like original factory paint, no matter how good a body shop. I know you must feel "violated". Chin up, and good luck buddy.

Seems damaging peoples cars and property is becoming the norm in this Country and were all just going to have to get used to it...Seems its not important to the Police, theyve got it covered though with your very own crime reference number!!
See now everythings better

Sorry to hear of the damage to the car, hope its fixed soon without anymore hassle..

Chips..

If you can feel a depression as you run your fingernail across the marks its too deep for t cut etc The painter I use is a one man band, slow, but an absolute pefrectionist and very reasonable He has done a few similar jobs for me and even AA inspections have failed to pick up that the car was resprayed So if you are prepared to come to Essex I can give you his number..you wont be disappointed

So so sorry.
Your car is the TOPS:my advice is take it to the Lexus Centre @ Nottingham who have their own Bodyshop & get a quote whilst you have coffee & biscuit:you want your car 100% & vandalism is covered by your Insurance:a Police Incident No. would help but is not esential.

It's not a Lexus bodyshop, it's operated by Mann Edgerton and the manager is a liar and thief who shouldn't be allowed to breathe oxygen :o

Where were you in Birmingham mate. Was it a back street somewhere or was it a puplic open area like a supermarket car park etc? If it was, do they have CCTV?

I really feel for you - That's what terrifies every time I leave my 'baby' parked somewhere. It get's a LOT of attention which unfortunately is a double edged sword ! I went to Peterborough yesterday and was happy cos I got parent and child space :P so at least that cut down the chances of some ignorant ***** opening their door onto my car. It doesn't stop the mindless jealous f*@ckers who do what they've done to you though.

I hope you get it sorted ok..

Michael,
I said Quote & Lexus Nottingham is Approved by GB but you obviously had a bad experience .

I know how you feel. I had mine done, and now it's in the body shop being done. I went through my insurance as I have PNC, apparently one of the panels damaged was so deep they have had to get a new one. Hence two weeks of driving a Skoda :duh:

As hard as it is, rise above the scum.... Rest in comfort within normal morality satisfied knowing that the nearest these no brainers will ever get to owning a Lexus is the paint on their knife.

LOL :D Good one Tony i will have to remember that one.

Thing is these tw@ts will do it again. Its not just a case of rising above it, something has to be done about it. Has anyone ever seen this being done not to their own car but a complete strangers and not done anything?

I seen some TWOC'ers trying to pull a bee sting ariel off a kitted car and mauling the M3 mirrors off. I seen it ahead of me and knowing they would out-pace me being the skinny runts they were i set Kaiser(my staff bull terrier) after them. Well we caught the one crying his eyes out trying to scale a van to get away. The other left a sh!t stain trail where i chased him.
Owner was so thankful that i intervened we are now mates. TWOC'er 1 was beaten by a a group unknown to me and TWOC'er 2 has disappeared.
Mr Morse
Yeah it's good to hand out a bit of summary justice to these lowlives, it's all they understand......brings back memories of the toerag I caught wandering in my garage last summer and his experience of Mr wheel brace :o
Anees
Thats just terrible! What low life scum!!
Bobski
As mentioned b4 if you can catch your fingernail in it then its too deep for scratch x.

I would insist it is repaired by a lexus/toyota dealership as it may invalidate your 12yr warranty (check your documentation and local dealer if you are unsure)

All the Best

Saracen. You didn't say where the car was parked. If it was a shopping centre of somewhere there may have been cameras, I would check with that organisation to see if they haev footage of when you were there. You may be able to get the little pr*cks.

It is such a hollow feeling seeing something like that done to your car, and it is pure loutish behaviour. A swift kick up their ars*s wouldn't go astray if you could catch them.

I would check with your dealership as they should have recommended repairers.
Kazi
A new Lex done already! What the hell is wrong with some people?!

The country would be more safer and nicer if these low life scums are eliminated. Make use of the forum and organize a group of gutted people. I'm sure these low life scums will come back if you put the car back there. Record it with the video camera and put them to justice.

Guys, thanks for the amazing response and words of comfort. I have finally managed to calm down but Saturday and Sunday I was MAD!

Anyway in the cold light of day things could be a lot worse, they could have smashed windows, nicked my iPod, slashed my tires. But as my partner said that is not the point.

I will take the car to Leicester tonight and get them to have a look at it and give me a quote. I would hate to take it elsewhere and then find that I have invalidated the warranty. They did some respray work on my last car and I couldn't tell the difference. I will also take it to Jamboos recommendation just to get a comparison and might even be able to bring the price down for Leicester.

I don't think I will go down the insurance route as I don't have protected no claims and I am fortunate that I have a "little put away" for a rainy day and I think this is such a day!

Unfortunately the car was just parked in a street and there were no witnesses or CCTV around so whoever did it will get away scot free. But I firmly believe in what goes around comes around and I am sure they will get theirs in the future.

I am still trying to understand what kind of enjoyment someone would get for doing that! Anyway you guys are the best:  (but obviously in a sexually non-threating manner! LOL!) Thanks a million for your help and advice.

Hope you got some spare notes for a potentially very heavy-rain-rainy day...

Take on Tony's little comment ("closest to owning a Lex is paint on their knife").
 Bloomin annoying and frustrating - perhaps at least you wont be so concious when you are inside the lovely car. Just dont look at the passenger side when you're outside...

Where exactly in Brum were you? I know there can be some shadey areas not worth risking parking your car, especially a brand new one...

Anyway, hope you get it sorted with as little cost/hassle as possible.

D.

i would like to add my condonlonces to the thread as well.... i know how you feel, had my lexy cleaned yesterday and looks like some bar steward has keyed both my passenger side doors.......... TWICE.

one high and one low........ but they didnt do a good job, so it should T-cut on out.

again sorry to hear it happened to you, i was proper ****** and my car's only a T.
Brendan

Derek, it seems like my rainy day is turning into a tropical rainstorm. Got a quote from two dealers one was just under a grand and the other just over! Well I've decided to put the whole thing through my insurance and will organise the work through the dealer. Did consider Jamboos option and a few others but in the end I just want it looking like new and need it done with as little hassle as possible. Plus the option of a courtesy car etc.

Totally p :tsktsk: d off! If I ever get hold of the c :tsktsk: t that did this, I think I would be getting medieval on their *****

Living in Leicester I can tell U who not to go to! GMW motors are apparently the local insuranced approved bodyshop and did have a contract with lexus Leicester. They recently bodged my car up so badly that it needed a new door skin so steer clear of them mate.
