Just a tip for all those guys that like to do ther own maintenance, there is a superb oil extraction pump coming up on Ebay from the 31 may in motor workshop power tools caregory. I have one and they are indespensable after you have used one.

Is there no sump plug then on an Ls400? If there is I can't see why you would want a pump to suck it out, as these don't completely clear the sump.

This is a bit complicated for you I think,The transmission oil is the main object of this excersise and if you check with the Lexus workshops thats the way they extract the transmission oil, but charge £70 per hour minimum for the service. So when the time come to change your t-oil you pay through the nose and us smart guys will use our pumps.

It is a response to some one who asks if a ls400 as a sump plug,in actual fact the particular pump in question can be permanantely connected to the sump drain the pump is then fixed in the engine bay and the oil pumped from the car at waist hieght so you can have both options .
