Just sorted out a high idle problem on the car. The symptoms were an idle speed of 1000rpm and a drop off of about 250rpm when selecting gear, also occasional stalls when braking hard from speed.
I had the idle air valve out for a clean (beware those screws are made of particularly soft toffee) and cleaned the apeture, this dropped the idle speed down to what it should be 500 - 750rpm but it was lumpy as an aardvarks bum and stalled quickly after. After a quick look around the throttle body i found that the vacuum line on the top at the front was split and leaking air so changed it and voila problem solved.
Just thought someone might benefit in the future if they have similar problems
