Full Version: Accelerator On The Left Side Of The Brake
Lexus Owners Club > Lexus Models > Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club
aido
Just wondered, in my V300 if you take the Aristo mats up on the carpet you'll find a mechanism which flips up with another accelerator pedal connected to a bar which pushes down on the factory accelerator located to the right of the brake - therefore you've got two accelerators - one on the left of the brake, one on the right..

Is this standard or an aftermarket modification?!

Thanks in advance
peter026
Never heard of that before.............Would it be for some one with two left feet, or Jake the peg :D
aido
I've never heard of it either, but it's been fitted to the car!

*** knows why, unless as you say someone had restricted movement with their right lef maybe and so this was bodged together?

The thing is I can't exactly remember what it looked like but it seemed stock?

Will get some pics tomorrow and get them up on the site!
Gord
Congrats on the new car mate :D
aido
Thank-you very much mate :)

Will put a thread up at some point, just need to sort some things out before I put any pics up :)
Noel
Maybe it's a kind of "Heel Toe" workaround...... you could use your left leg then to blip the accelerator...

Congrats on the Aristo...... I knew you weren't getting an Aygo.... 'cos you didn't even know how to spell it.... :P
Ahmet
Congrats on the new car mate.

That was the one Thor Racing were selling on eBay for £7K .......... you snapped up a bargain there ;)
MacRS200
You little tinker Aido, winding everyone up like that

Congrats on the new car mate, looks great in your sig.

Sounds like a disability mod, i.e for an amputee, check your log book to make sure it is not classified for disabled tax, my aristo tt was and had to go to alocal office to change it back
chips229
Hi,

Looking forward to see the pictures of the new car, never heard of the mod as youve explained it.

Chips..
aido
Will get some pics up soon pal, just a few little things I want to sort out first mate :D

Was going to do some stuff tonight but it's raining now!

Here's one of the pics from eBay anyway:

Glad to be in the Aristo club though - really going to miss the IS, but it's time for me to move on, and heck is this a way to do it :D
maneesh
Oh wow, you got that Aristo? I was so tempted to get it. How is it to drive? What a great colour combo, black on black. You just need to PIMP it up dude! Chrome rims!!!!
aido
No pimping with this motor dude, that's all gonna be going on behind the limo tints

Watch these be my favorite last words, but I'm thinking of leaving this as is! Nice street sleeper this time, catches everyone out!

Everything looks nice enough, got a few things to sort out, the usual things, repeaters etc etc, going to attempt a bit of stuff in the morning and get some small pieces ordered...

As for the car yeah it drives very nicely, it was Mr Ellen pointed me in the direction of this one, and Pete Betts was a star when it came to having it!

The speed is awesome though, doesn't feel that quick, everything outside just seems to pass by very quickly indeed!

It's also got a few goodies which weren't listed on eBay like Alpine satnav etc, also a TV tuner but not sure if that thing is plumbed in, need to check it really, but the aerial is vibrating against the glass so may have that removed, may even do it myself if I can figure out how lol!

Congrats on the car Aido! Looks lovely!
Mr-Lex
Good choice mate! Seems like eveyone going into GS/Aristo range....

Thats one sweet motor Aido mate

You've got big boy's power now
aido
Hey up fella, long time no see!

See you've got a fancy car now mate as well, how's it going?

Had to get the big boy's power now that I'm a big boy :D
Anees
Lovely car Aido congrats! :D

From that pic Waddy took of you in your "Aigo" I didn't think it looked much like I'd imagined an Aygo to look!

You look like a proper gangland villan now! The Don!

New car is going great ta, now i've had a few things sorted on it. Not quite the luxury of the Lex, but makes up for that in the fun it provides.

The quest for more power goes on, although the other half claims it's more of a mid-life crisis thing :crybaby:

Looking forward to having a nosey round your new baby
monster
Just a bit of a difference between an Aigo and a V300 mate!! :D

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new motor mate it looks v nice and they're a great drive. Smooth and slow when you want them to be and then all of a sudden a friggin' beast. Gotta run them on high RON petrol though which dents the pocket. :crybaby: :crybaby:

Good luck, I'm well jealous!!!! One day I'll return! :D
aido
Cheers fella, was speaking to Gord last night and he was telling me about when he'd driven your motor!

At the minute I'm running on either Optimax or the Tesco 99 RON stuff, like you say though, she's incredibly smooth, then a rocket when you need to get past something quick!

Just working on tidying this one up externally, inside and mechanically it's great :)

Had to wind them all up with the Aigo though :D

I bought a Seat Alhambra a few year ago that had a left foot throttle, turned out the previous owner only had one leg :duh: You cannot believe how hard it is to drive with the throttle on the wrong side, especially when your reversing. It lasted about two days.
Nice looking car
aido
I've still not checked the V5, but I've got a feeling that the mod was done back in Japan?

Reminds me to go and look at removing it now :D

Thanks for the compliments :D
mattanna
Awesome car btw, how many miles she done?, i have had my mk 1 Aristo tt for a week now, beautiful to cruise in and goes like an absolute mother when you need it, have you had it delimited?
cheers
Matt
johnboy
congrats on the new car aido, looks great, lovely car.

great to see you about again, hope everything is ok now

hope to see you at a meet sometime soon

john
aido
Getting there thanks John, how are you doing, long time no see!!!

@ Matt - it's not been delimited yet, getting an SLD fitted soon, it hits 110 or 117, not sure what the actual limit is, that quickly it's unreal! Never got round to removing this as ended up in the pub last night :o
chips229
Hi,

That looks like a clean straight car youve bought aido B)

I know what you mean though about the Aristo not feeling that Quick, its not until you overtake cars that you can tell of the Grunt because of the Tall/long gearing of the autobox. But they really do fly ;)

Chips..
aido
Thank-you fella :)

Yeah know exactly what you mean, overtook someone in the IS and it felt like loads of hard work, in the Aristo I just put my foot down and it looks like they've slammed the handbrake on :D

Still need to remove this, not at the hospital tomorrow, so will get some pics and take it out the car hopefully!
aido
Got some pics, this is going to be a bitch to remove on second inspection:

that pedals used when drifting........
aido
Oh right, so not a disability mod then!

Sounds like the car has some history :D
Parthiban
Its definitely a disability mod, one of my brother's friends has that in his car too cos his dad only had his left leg.....

Dunno about its use in drifting, from the photo it looks like you could theoretically be on the brake, accelerator and foot brake all with one foot - not sure of the point of that though :P
aido
In that case maybe it's for donuts
P4UL T
looks funkey

can you feel it under the mat?

any luck getting it out?

@ Paul, yeah mate you can feel it, I haven't managed to get it out yet as my screwdriver isn't letting me get enough leverage to undo those big screws holding the plate in, either that or I'm just a wuss!

@ Barrie, blimey mate that's the ones - I see there's one similar that it says can be easily removed without tools but I can't figure this bugger out!

Might have another crack tomorrow as it's annoying me now!

i would imagine there are some nuts on the other side of the screws
aido
Was wondering about that mate, might have to get it on the ramps to check it out, that'll be a pain in the ***** as it will mean extra holes to fill to keep the noise down! :o

Guess that would also explain all the dust if there are small openings where it can come up?
