I took ownership yesterday of a 53 plate IS200 SE, i did a P/X deal with Lexus Leeds and at the moment the only thing good about them is the bunch of flowers they gave to the missus. My first problem is the bodywork, when i checked the car the first time there was a few scratches/stonechips etc as there always will be on a used car, the saleseman assured me these would be rectified and lo and behold when i checked the car over yesterday most of them had gone, great i thought until i got home, i had driven for 75 miles in the rain up the A1 from Leeds to my place and when i looked at the bodywork again they had all reappeared now i know it wasnt me as they are in exactly the same places as they were when i checked the car out before ordering, apparantly they get somebody in to do this type of work as it is cheaper, it doesnt get done by lexus. My next gripe is CAR MATS, when i did the deal i asked for a set of mats (as you do) as there wasnt any in the car at the time......once again the salesman assured me he will get me some however he never, so i asked him why not and the answer was "We havent got another IS200 on the forecourt to take the mats out and put them into your car." I then told him accoring to the LEXUS UK website they are a standard fit and he came out with "only from 2004" (although the website doesnt say that). Now i know these are only little things but for those people reading this and have bought cars before from a dealership you ask them for a set of car mats as part of the deal and wallah!!! you get a brand new set. So my question is if they are a standard fit should i get a new set and if the salesman said he would get me some as part of the deal should they be new???.......Lexus are meant to be a prestige badge with lots of awards, surely swapping car mats over to different cars and using dodgy tradesmen for quick bodywork jobs is not their policy. I know i bought the cheapest lexus on the foecourt but a lexus is a lexus etc etc. mad.gif

Sounds like they infilled the scratches with a coloured wax that washed off with the rain sad.gif

If you are really not happy you have 30 days to return and get a replacement, have a llok at the www.lexus.co.uk website. You can probably use this to get the salesman to sort it out properly. I would write to them and tell them you are not happy and why and see if they come good.

After I'd purchased my RX300SEL from Leeds I realised that they'd been a little sharp in cashing in the tax on my px. I raised this with them and they refunded me immediately - without any fuss. Thanks Kevin

Just to keep you all in the picture, i should have my new car mats today, the salesman called me to say he would deliver, meanwhile this morning i received a letter from the Sales Manager at Lexus Leeds saying welcome to Lexus blah blah, hope you have trouble free motoring etc, (standard format) however i was a bit miffed when it came to reading the end of the letter as it said and i quote 'It is worth noting, that if your car is covered by a Benfield Warranty your vehicle should be serviced at Benfield to keep the warranty valid' unquote, now as far as i am concerend, current legislation states that you can take your car new or old to any registered VAT garage wether it be a main dealer or not for service and this will not invalidate your warranty, obviously if anything needs doing to the car after the service then if it is under warranty you go to the nearest Main dealer and get it sorted. To me this is another tact of scaremongering against unsuspecting buyers. Please correct me if i am wrong.????

I am sure I have read that the legislation only applies to new cars, so for used ones you have to comply to the terms of that warranty sad.gif

Warranties on new cars on any brand will still be valid if genuine parts are used and the same level of work is done. You do NOT have to get your car serviced at a main dealers to keep this warranty.
