This place (NAPEX) is just across the road from the fortified US Consulate. It also happens to house one of the better known girlie bars in Lagos

Man that place looks rough.

Would love to come and experience it for the sheer hell of it one day though.

Nigerian Army Post Exchange pay toilet as well...looks like they've got everything nailed. Well deserved to be called the 'Services'.

Any place is whatever you make of it.....

Go to the wrong bar with the wrong girl at 3am after a skinfull of beer and you'll get into trouble in any city in the World!

Put it like this, in the past 10 years:

- In the UK I've suffered 1 burglary, 2 attempted burglaries and numerous other bull$hit incidents

- In Nigeria.......apart from having an AK poked in my face at an army roadblock, nothing untoward

Nigeria may have a terrible reputation, usually based upon the perceptions of the many who've never been there, but I take people at face value and can honestly say that I enjoy working in Nigeria!

Seems like you have had good experiences of Nigeria Mike.
My wife is Nigerian from the Victoria Island area of Lagos, we have been together for nearly 30 years and she won't risk taking the family over so I and our kids have never visited.
We have lost family friends and relatives in armed robberies and killings on the street.
Like you say you just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The big advantage for me though is the mother-in-law is 3,500 miles away for 6months of the year!!
