Phone orange customer services and they may unlock your phone for a small fee.
Don't expect to ever get through to o2 customer services though. I moved from o2 to t-mobile and o2 sent me an unlocking code for £15. Of course o2 being utterly rubbish took 5 weeks, loads of phone calls, being in a queue, put on hold etc. before they finally produced the code. They then couldn't tell me what to do with the code - it needs prefixing with a few #s n stuff. Once I finally found someone who knew what they were doing the phone came up with a message saying it wasn't locked anyway. Asked o2 for my £15 back but they refused. They then continued to bill me even though I no longer used their service - it took 2 weeks and loads of calls before I could get through to anyone to sort it out. In all it took 3 months to make the change.
My advice would be to throw your o2 sim card in the bin and try any other mobile phone company.
