Over the last few weeks i have noticed rough transmission changes and also juddering when reversing.

I have been told the transmission is on its way out and to refurb it would cost £1400

Does anyone know where i can get a cheaper tranny or maybe a second hand one?

who diagnosed the tranny? lexus tranny's are pretty robust...and hardly ever go wrong..

it could well be low fluid levels? or that draining, flushing, changing the filter and refilling might help?

have you tried re-setting the ecu?

You would be better off putting a secondhand autobox in from the breakers,most give a warranty of 30 days,i know swift breakers do.

I wouldnt recommend having it reconditioned,id go for a secondhand autobox.

Try giving Swift Lexus breakers a call they might be able to help you out.

Cheapest was £400 plus VAT from a 37,000 mile 2001 model.

will the 2001 box be ok in a 2000 pre-facelift model?
