Hi all,

I recently moved to UK and had my 2003 Toyota Harrier AIRS model shipped from Japan. When I signed up for car insurance, I was asked for proof that my car is equipped with a proper (Thatcham approved) alarm/immobiliser.

Apparently the 2003MY models do have a security system/immobiliser equipped as a standard, but not sure if it is "Thatcham approved". Does anyone have any ideas? And if so if you could kindly advise on where I can obtain such a proof, I would greatly appreciate it!

I asked my Toyota dealer in Japan about this, but they were not familiar with this... (could not even tell me what the security system manufacturer or model was...)

if the alarm is fitted to an import in japan, regardless if it is oem from the manufacturer, it will not be thatcham approved

Do you know of an alarm system which you might recommend for the Harrier, that can be easily installed?

Can't recommend an Alarm, but if you try A plan insurance they give discount for Lexus owners and maybe fully up to speed on what each model has import or not.
