It's pretty Easy.
If you open the boot you will see two bolt covers on the side near the seal. Remove these. Take the bolts out and pull.
the side of the lights are held in by clips but they just release when you pull.
Voila,

It'd be inevitable though, I'd fit them and then reverse out of a space with a copper waiting lol.

You got pulled for having HID's??
I also had the blue bulbs in for a couple of years and never had a problem, even when I was pulled over and given a producer they never mentioned the bulbs!
Just waiting to see how long it'll be before I get pulled in the Aristo for something (hopefully not speeding tho lol!)

My moment to shine

Having worked in the headlight industry for over ten years in R&D, I can answer pretty much all the legality questions.
Regarding reverse lights the legal position is that they should be 'white', however from a colour point of view the definition of white is very loose. Indeed without a goniometer and a 100ft long laboratory your average copper can't say whether you are illegal or not, hence you will get away with it. However the legal colour spectrum for headlights is much more tightly defined for safety as being a pure white, hence they are more likely to pick you up for odd headlight colours than reverse light colours, and the same applies for MOT testing.

OK, Now I'm intrigued. What's a 'goniometer'? Sounds like something you'd encounter in a clap clinic

lol. A goniometer is what you mount a lamp cluster too to spin it round to different angles to measure the light output from it. Easier than spinning the lab round I can tell you.
