Just got the car back from a 70k, 7 year service (it's actually done 66k and is 6 years old) with Lexus Park Lane, whose garage is in fact in Battersea. It's a Y reg IS200 with FSH.
  • Carry out 7 year 70k service
  • Replace pollen filter
  • Replace spark plugs
  • Supply and fit new cambelt assembly
  • Supply and fit new water pump and bypass hose
  • Supply and fit new cambelt tensioner
  • Change rear brake pads
  • Supply and fit new battery
  • Supply and fit new o/s/r fog lamp
  • MOT
The invoice total was £1,476.51

I asked for a new key to be cut and for the boot lifter springs to be replaced but these items needed to be ordered in so neither was done. In some ways I'm grateful or I could have been landed with a £2k bill...

WOW mate ohmy.gif i could never ever pay that sort of money for a service biggrin.gif good job you didn't need anything else, like clutch ohmy.gif
Anees
Thats rediculous!

My 60K Service which is a major one, ALONG with a Cambelt change only cost £600 and that was from Lexus Exeter! ohmy.gif
MacRS200
That's not far off a quarter of the value of the car FFS ohmy.gif

SOD THAT!

Sorry for shouting, but damn....did they see you coming??

It is an incredible figure - I was expecting something in the £800 region (based upon a telephone conversation with them after they'd completed the initial Vehicle Inspection Report) which seemed expensive but in line with what other guys have posted on this forum.

However, when they called a few days later to request payment, the figure had almost doubled. Aparently, this was my fault for electing to have so much work done?! And for not appreciating that quoted prices were ex VAT.

Take the fog lamp for example. The bulb had blown but corrosion meant they couldn't get it out. So the whole lamp unit was replaced. That in itself cost £160.31 + VAT and an hour's fitting at £55 + VAT. So I make that about £250 all in to effectively replace a bulb!

I guess I will just have to drive (a long way) out of London next time I get the Lexus serviced.

did they have your pants down too!?

over the standard £800 service you had a rear fog light (Clear ones on E-bay £16), battery (£50 from halfords), brake pads (£20 form any motor place). so how did get to £1500?
derekyau
Does sound almightyly expensive...
And yeah, Park Lane dont actually do the servicing - it's taken to Batersea area somewhere...
iirc they supposedly did their own kind of loyalty/discount card (do not accept LOC Gold card discount)

Ouich! ohmy.gif

Yep, my battery was sub £50, my clear rear fogs were £16, my brake pads were £20 for the rears, pollen filter is £33, cambelt and tensioner £80 (rounded up) MOT is around £45, other service parts will come to around £100 including oil, spark plugs oil filter, key fob battery, sump plug gasket. So all I can say is that water pump must be pretty darn expensive!

So the bits in total are around £344.

Service will take a good hour - hour and a half tops....its not a big job...

Fitting battery takes 2 minutes

Brake pads took me 20 minutes and thats jacking the car up one side at a time...

Water pump does not look all that difficult to fit either...

All in all, I think they have some what made a nice little earner out of you....

£1,500 is how much it costs to service a Rolls Royce at an independent dealer..You've been mugged!
winnie
I had the 60k service done earlier this year (not Lexus) ph34r.gif with most of what you got,inc cam belt and w/pump and it cost me just over £400.

To be fair though 80% (or more) cost of the invocie will be labour +VAT and not the parts themselves, however, yes it is a big bill. But if you read the topic header: SERVICE + PARK LANE will always = LOADSA MONEY given the location of the dealership...

Part of the reason why i opted for a service package on our RX - goes to whichever main dealer is clsoer when it needs a service for this precise reason (and the fact that labour rates will keep going up and up and up each year) ...

After sales workshop is based in Battersea - definitely a far cheaper area to have a workshop than Park Lane..

Well I've never been to Lexus Park Lane (yet) but I would hazard a guess that the 'front end' is the shiney new building in Park Lane (thats where you make the appointment to have your car booked in?) and no matter where the workshop is based, your order is taken there. So you will pay 'Park Lane' prices regardless of where the workshp is. Think of it this way, your Nike trainers are made in china - you dopn't pay Chinese money for them, you pay top-whack Western prices. Same with 'Park Lane' Lexus.

On an aside though, I hope to visit them for a service, espcially since I have a Service Pack and intend to spank them for labour rates to get even more monies worth out of them ohmy.gif)
