Has anyone replaced their standard 215/45/17 tyres for wider ones? i used to have nice wide 225/45/16 on my Celica which gave me better grip and also protected my alloys as the side wall of the tyre were thicker came out alittle bit further than the alloy so even if i touched the kerb it would only scrape the tyre and not the alloy. Does anyone know how wide i can go on the standard 17" five spoke SE alloys? 225? 235? 245? 255?...

235/35-17 is doable on the OE rim but i would recommend against it.... Best advice is find a tyre with a better curbing rib or park further away from the curb.

I always find that not hitting the curb is a good way to avoid scuffing the alloys laugh.gif

Or dont let the missus drive!
