The is220/250 has sexy dynamic lines and looks better with light colors,i.ex white pearl.

I notice in the dealers sales book that all the pictures are of a silver model (argenta ice?)
This would suggest that the designers think a lighter colour shows the lines off better

Luckily most of the colours available look good on the new IS.
For me I have always loved Silver cars which is why my last three Lexus have been this colour I think it just looks better. And it's no mistake that all the promotional literature for Lexus shows the cars in Silver the exception to this being the new IS-F. The only downside is that 50% of Lexus cars on the road seem to be that colour.
Following that the light blue (Brechin Slate?) has really caught my attention.
Black looks great too when it is clean!

I think that's a different question - if you're thinking of colours that will sell well, that's got to be silver, black, grey and blue before anything else

Looks apart, if you want to "live" with a colour, stick with the lighter Metalics...
My Red looks fantastic, 16 months down the line. Close up you see all manner of scratches appearing, and the softness is a pain.
So if you're asking 'cos you are about to order one, avoid all of the darker colours (IMHO - scratchability and fashion) including the Red. Go for Gold, Silver, White or Caspain, closely followed by Brechin slate (light blue). If you want a darker colour, Start at Red....I saw loads of Pearl White and Caspain Sky abroad, and they are absolutely fantastic colours. I wish I'd gone Caspian...with a Black or Grey lether interior it looks the dogs...so bright and shiny...
PS - Merc and Audi's racing colours are silver, so they advertise these in their brochures and ad's...not sure about Lexus...

Well, I went for the Cadoxton Slate, and the first time everyone saw it, they said 'oooooh ... love the colour'
It is a pain to keep clean, but then the last car I had was black so I'm used to washing it at least once a week.
Colour is a completely subjective thing. If you think one particular colour is nice and everyone else thinks it's naff, who cares. It's your car. Get the colour you want.

No...luckily I wasn't charged for it....I don't know the official name....the only reason I say metallic is that I remember reading a post where someone said that the IS220 only came in a matt black....but the black I have is definantley not matt!!

Black with beige interior - definitely beige interior, though I could be persuaded to change my mind on the exterior paint colour...
