Hi all, just tried my driver door lock and the damn thing won't turn, well it did a bit, then just decided to stop. So now I can't lock the door the slot that you insert the key into is set to '/' this angle.

I went to the passenger door and it locks itself but doesn't lock any of the other doors. I have to manually lock the back doors and the driver door using the door lock near the door handle inside and then lock the passenger door with the key.

The boot lock works ok with the key.

I don't have the key fob to lock it automatically as I was mislead when buying the car but that's another story.

Any idea what's going off?

Hi,

Sounds like your going to have to take the door trim off and see whats come loose or worst still broken.

I think theres a sort a C shape clip that holds the lock tight against the skin of the door/handle.

cheers chips, I 'll have a look tomorrow.

actually the door lock is fairly different, for one its no where near as easy to get to, access is very poor. Saying that I did almost manage to remove the handle and lock assembly, unfortunately i ran out of time.

The lock and handle is held onto the body by 3 nuts and a small plate that is held in place by 2 small screws. The problem was in disconnecting the handle from the bar that moves when the handle is lifted.

Anyway I think its the lock that's faulty. it just will not budge from the '/' position I have disconnected power cables etc but I think the lock is seized.

Anyone got an idea how much a lock is going to be?

would you believe it my boot lock has done the very same thing, so now its permanently open :tsktsk:

Well now the passenger door lock has gone so if I lock my car now I ain't gonna get back in it. Looks like an expensive visit to Lexus. :tsktsk:

That has sorted stuck barrels on a few cars I've had. Remote central locking means the barrels are rarely used so dirt and crud causes problems like this quite often.

ps: My car doesn't seem to have remote locking, well I don't have a key that does. should it? and how would one tell?
