I have bought a Lexus Towbar from local Lexus dealer for a RX300 Mk1, has anyone fitted a towbar to a Harrier as have spoken to a specialist towbar fitter who says it will not fit as not compatible.
Mind you he also said that it was a fatal mistake to buy an import so perhaps he is a little negative.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any knowledge. Thanks

Sounds like poo poo to me - althought their 'may' be a difference but very unlikely.
Something to note is your crumple zones don't work with the tow bar - a friend got hit recently in the towbar and is still suffering whiplash.
I would go to any garage worth their salt to see if it would fit. It's not rocket science lol.
Go back to Lexus also as when I went to the spares dept they could pull up all the import model data no problem on their computers.

Harold, it will fit no problem.( The "specialist Fitter" is talking Bollo$$ks) A former member on here who bought my A bars had a Harrier and had an RX towbar fitted.
DIY if you have the tools but otherwise shop around for a reasonable quote

Hi Guys,Thanks for all the comments and support on this. I checked the bar over carefully and it is a Brink bar so will takt to the main agents locally to see if they can be more helpful. For reference the part number is PZ408-K2550-00. I could possibly do the mechanical fitting but I am absolutely useless on electrics. As usual have found out that Towequip sell a towbar produced by Watling Engineers(PTY83DT) @ £220 to include single wiring kit and they are very helpful people and throughly recommend."Wise after the event springs to mind"
Thanks again to everyone. Will keep you posted how I get on. Cheers Harold

Terry, Pleased to report that fitted towbar myself no problems as all the holes were in the right places etc.Took about an hour.
Only snag being that I did not want to cut through the bottom of the bumper stay to enable the two electric sockets to fold up so they are visible but does not look too awful. Detachable hook is great as my dogs do not catch their "bits" when jumping in and out.
Had local company who know what they are talking about do the twin electrics for £120 so off to look for something to tow now trailer possibly caravan.
Tahnsk to you and everyone for their input.
regards
Harold

Hi I fitted a lexus towbar off a 2002 to my harrier. very easy to do. You have to check that it made to fit the lexus with the internal spare wheel .
