To those of you who know me well, you'll know that I'm pretty particular about how my car looks, it has to look its best all the time. For the last five years I have been a devoted Meguiars follower and have never heard a bad word said about the products, and that still stands.
However, I have recently tried a new car-care regime called Dodo Juice, which I was attracted to because of it's amusing name, yes I am easily pleased! I decided to order some after hearing lots of positive stuff about it on the interweb. When I came to order it, it became apparent that it wasn't simply a case of buying the one thing and that being the end of it, I was presented with a choice of 8 products, soft or hard wax all designed to work with different couloured paint. There are products called Orange Crush, Banana Armour, Purple Haze, Light Fantastic and so on. I opted for a soft wax designed for dark cars which made my choice Purple Haze - specifically for dark cars as it contains a dark caranuba wax which deepens colour. I also chose a bottle of Lime Prime, a pre-wax polish and paint cleaner. Costing me £50 for the two, they came the next day and I did my usual regime of wash with Meguiars Gold Class car shampoo, it was time for a clay so I used clay with Speed Detailer to get a nice smooth finish, then I applied Lime Prime to prepare the surface and remove any imperfections and finally apply a coat of Dodo Juice. The amusing thing about it, other than the name, is the fact that it's best applied with your fingers which leaves your neighbours thinking you're barking mad but ultimately a fabulous finish. Hurts your hands to buggery though. It goes on and comes off very easily and when I took it off I was just totally shocked at the result - a sight to behold. The paint is smooth, deep and rich and did, in all honesty put Meguiars to shame. I applied another coat the next day as advised and the same result again. I'm now a total Dodo convert and looking forward to trying their other products on different cars. Yes it's better than Meguiars, but Meguiars is still a fabulous product. The Dodo however, just gets the honours.

So which wax would be for the platinum ice? I clean mine from time to time, but noway as detail as you, also i don't like doing it cos i always find new scratches. Worst one is on the near side bumper corner, it flaked off (1 inch in size!)..at first i thought the front bumper had a cheap paint job done to it. but on closer inspection to me looks like someone has scrapped it without leaving a dent (teach me to park at Saintsbury). Also what is the smell like cos its really nice after you cleaned your car and you can actually smell it before you can see it lol.

Edit:

just had a look..nice names lol

* Rainforest Rub - Soft Wax - All Colours
* Purple Haze - Soft Wax - Dark Colours
* Orange Crush - Soft Wax - Warm Colours
* Light Fantastic - Soft Wax - Light Colours
* Hard Candy - Hard Wax - All Colours

i had a sample of dodo stuff beofre and it was good but i still prefer poorboys, next week ill do a full detail:

wash then clay (poorboys is a bit harsher so better/easier than the Meguiars) a go over with poorboys ssr2.5 then ssr1 to remove any swirls and light clear coat scrathes if required then chemical guys EZ glaze and blitz sealant then 2 coats of collinite 476S - interior ill use poorboys natural look dressing - its the nuts!

with the collinite that means i wont have to wax it for at least a year biggrin.gif perfect for the expected harsh winter.

Hey. Yeah, choice of 3 for Plat Ice. Light Fantastic, Diamond White or Banana Armour - BA is supposed to be fantastic and has the longest life. It's good to put a couple of coats on - leaving 24 hours between applications. Smell varies from wax to wax.
Zymol is very expensive but ultimately very good. If money's no object, Zymol or Swissvax all the way but for those of us in the real world, there are products which are almost as good for a tiny fraction of the price.
