Just out of interest, what are peoples opinions of my pricing?
I think I have priced it to sell, but then this is a very slow time of year. Anyone got any thoughts on that?

parkers priced it at £12,030 for private good condition, but I clicked on 3.0 auto (not nav or parking) so if thats the right one, consider dropping it half a grand cos theres another on trader that came up above yours with similar mileage for £12k, although yours is a nicer colour

Fair comment, however the car @ £12k has done slightly more miles, and is an '04, with no warranty, whereas mine is a '54, with warranty until Oct '08., so I think that makes mine better value.
RE: Parkers, mine is a Limited Edition, which could help. Some price guides actually put it at over £13k trade, so I think Parkers are low - having said that I haven't sold it yet!

I think it's fairly priced, given into account the age and warranty.

I take it those are the standard headlights?
I know the later lights are darker but I can't remember them being quite that dark.
You wouldn't happen to have a part number handy for them?

The car is totally standard, so I guess they must be OE. If you tell me where I would find the part no. and it doesn't involve dismanlting, I will certainly have a look.

Still at 30k, been abroad a lot and just not using it. Now just £10,340. Back on Autotrader, cheapest 54 plate on there.

It has, very disappointing really as it is a lovely car. Surely priced to sell now though.

High fuel/tax costs are against you, sorry. I'd love an IS300, but the high fuel and tax costs would kill me.

Didn't think they were noticeably different to an IS200?

I'm talking from my personal point of view. My 2000 'X' plate IS200 will cost £185 to tax next year (12 months), if I was to buy a newer IS200/300, I would be looking at paying £400 for 12 months tax (if they are still going ahead and back dating the tax to all cars reg'd after 1st March 2001). Hence, I'd love to upgrade, but the tax (not the fuel as much) would kill me.

By my reckoning, would the tax not be the same? Both top bracket.
Fuel may be a little more, but depends how you drive it.

I shall just reiterate what someone has said, but more loudly, as I am going through the same issues: THIS IS A VERY BAD TIME TO BE SELLING A LARGE-ENGINED CAR - THE HIGH CAR TAX AND HIGH PRICES OF FUEL ARE A KILLER.
Adding to this, Parkers is rubbish as a guide - I've been trying to sell 2 cars (long story) and Parkers bore no relation to the real price from actual ads, even when paying for a personalized valuation (e.g. Parkers say £11,300 private yet similar cars at dealers were up at £10,500). I've had only one sniff and that was from a complete p_rat who was so rude I almost hit him (sorry, that's just the way I felt).
I'm thinking of selling my Jan 03 IS300 Sport and getting a newer IS250/300 but have been put off because of these issues. I'm waiting to see what that nasty Mr Brown does over car tax and keeping my fingers crossed that the price of fuel will come down.
Good luck.

Well I reckon mine is still the cheapest 54 plate IS300 on Autotrader, and looks good value even compared to older cars, regardless of what the guides say, so it must be priced to sell.
Yes, road fund licence is an issue with both the IS200 and '300, but it doesn't kick in until next April, so anyone with any sense will be surrendering their tax in late Feb and retaxing from the beginning of March for 12m at the older rate. In this way, you won't be affected until Feb 2010. This is assuming that Mr. Darling doesn't do a U-turn on car tax, which he may well do. And a pre-2001 car won't be affected, but how many people considering a car that is 3.5yrs old would also be considering the same car at 8yrs old?
To re-iterate, the car is still available for sale, it isn't cheap to run, but what Lexus is? Except the IS220d, which is reguarly criticised for having an "un-Lexus like" engine, as also found in Avensis and Auris, you can't criticise the IS300 of that!
If anyone is interested in purchasing, please do let me know. I am relocating abroad later this year and am keen to sell.
Thanks.

Best of luck with the sale Flash - I have a '54 300 LE (but in black! - work that one out LOL)
These are great cars and fuel consumption is only 1-2mpg less than a IS200 but with far more extra kit as standard and a more suitable engine for the car.
Auto dim rear and side mirrors, HID, vehicle stability control etc. as standard.
Have you tried an add on Pistonheads?

Finally it has gone. I sold it last week to a very nice chap from the North West.
The bad news for anyone with a late IS200 / 300 is that these cars are hard work, and have really taken a caning in the guides. I was asking £8,990 and had to take an offer on that. To be honest though I was pleased to see it go, I had been trying to sell for so long.
For anyone who is interested, I got the best interest from Autotrader and eBay Classified, but Pistonheads is free, so is also worthwhile. I would strongly recommend against pricing to high, as the car won't sell, and the value will probaby only go one way.
Thanks for the community spirit though, by and large, the you all on here seem like a great load of guys, even if my taste in cars and yours is somewhat different.
