For my money I think the MK1 is the better looking car. It's not as squared of at the back and the sport looks very nice (Hence why I bought one). Now you could say I am biased but what are your thoughts on the subject?

The mk1 with out a doubt much sportier looking ,the mk2 reminds me off a hyundai (Sorry if that offends anyone).Saying that i would swap mine for a hyundai GS430 anyday

I really am not keen that much on the MkI design, I don't like the front that much although the rear is okay.

guess my thoughts ... lol .... although as i have not actually driven a mk2 i cant say...but looks wise yes i prefer the mk1

Hi all

For me its the Mk1, especially the sport model.
The only downside is the lack of sat/nav and space to retro fit the Mk2 system.

on the subject of mods were can u get them for the mk1

with mods they look gorgeous

the red MK1 looks brilliant

but then so do the MK2's

but u know what they all have in common that makes them nice.?
1-they are Lexus
2-they sittin on Chromes.........

Sporties MK2 is very nice

Mk2 for me I think, although nothing wrong with the Mk1. Lets face it, they are both fantastic motors

For me, gotta be the MK1. They got it right first time. Looks so agressive from the rear in sport spec especially with the 10x18 option. The lower they are, the better they look. To add to the sleek lines, you get an option of a pair of windy millers without badges all over the car letting everyone know.

Folks, the MK-1 is the better design, after all it was an Italian design destined for Alfa Romeo that Toyota bought, hence the best compromise.... Italian Design with Japaneese engineering and build quality.

The MK2 was designed by an Italian too - might even have been the same bloke that designed the MK1. The design was offered to Jaguar - who refused it.

FWIW I like the MK1 best.

I orginally fell in love with the Mark 1 when it came out
I was driving an Audi at the time and just loved the look of the car
By the time I could afford one the Mark2 was out and I had one of those
Now have a 430 sport which I feel looks the best
But the Mark one still looks tasty and there are some cracking ones about which still turn heads!
I think Lexus do a good job of updating cars without making the previous model look out of place.
The latest RX is a good expample of that!

Secondly - No - I spent ages trying to find a late model Mk1 Sport as I think they look way better than the Mk2.

I'll probably go for a Mk2 next time simply cos there is unlikley to be any decent Mk1's left.

Have to agree spent months trying to find low mile mk1 sport and could easily have bought a mk2 for same money .They just have not got the same road presence as the mk1 .

My MK1 found me. How could anyone resist summat so sexy that never gets a headache. I just can't get into the MK2. Maybe I will one day

For the record, I could easily afford a MK2 or any Lexus, however, being a Yorkshireman can't see the sense in spending lots of money on a depreciating asset, when I can buy a used Mk1 that's only just run in. Will have put 14,000+ on mine since Christmas and still loving every mile in her.

Nah. That paint job is far superior to mine. Its all one colour.
Now that my TR is painted, im gonna get stuck into the Lexter. Problem is that I love driving it to much and the thought of it being off the road dosen't agree with me.
Gotta do it though. I went to Cornwall in it a few weeks ago and managed to reverse it into a gate post and re arrange the rear bumper paint. .
Im sure it would win first prize in an alternative concours competion.
Anyway, I guess im going a bit
