Does anybody know if the engine i the 220d is about to be upgraded any time soon?

I was told that there is a new more efficient one due late spring. Less powerful but no mention of mpg!

well, there is 2,2 D4D 150k toyota engine.
One of our contractors has this in his avensis and he is always below 6ltr/100km
