Hi Folks. Just fitted two blue LED side light bulbs (from China!) and on a silver car they look just the ticket at night, but have now been told that they're not legal! I guess that makes some kind of sense, as dont want to be mistaken for a police car, but does anyone know if that is the law? Best wishes Derek

i dont see how a led sidelight would confuse anyone of being a copper car. besides you dont drive around at night with just sidelights do you?
i have led sidelights on mine and like them.
theres alot of illegal parts people put on their cars (black number plates, fonts, wide alloys etc) but i cant see you getting a ticket for led lights. just make sure they arent any colour other than white, blue, yellowish.

I guess it depends how blue, I have white LEDS in my sidelights which have a bluey tinge to them (white LEDS all seem to be that way) and I've had no problems. If they are a full on blue colour, then they would definately be illegal. Whether you get pulled for them or not seems to be a lottery.

Thanks for that. Yes they are full on blue - and beautiful(!) - but guess it's cold fingers this morning changing them back! Happy Christmas D

My Range Rover has just failed its MOT for having blue LED sidelights. So yes. Not legal.
