Well i could take it no longer and have sold my 220d. The problems i had and the locking problems in particular and the very poor mpg in my opinion is very poor for Lexus i have now bought a Honda civic Type r which returns more mpg around town than the lex and have had no problems at all as yet unlike the lex. I wish you all the best with your dilemas and hope you see sense in the end best regards Neo...

A sad reflection on Lexus which is considered a prestige motor car, lets hope the company takes such poor quality on board and puts changes in place to return to the "pursuit of perfection. Good luck with your new car - Merv

good luck with new car.
BTW I have to comment that you compare the consumption of civic class car with a IS class car...
You could buy a VW Lupo tdi and the mpg would be even higher...

Goodbye and good luck, noticed they have been advertising the diesel heavily lately .... maybe people have heard some of the problems.

Good luck buddy - i've said it before - many newer Generation VVTi's are more economical than diesels, so it ain't no surprise!

Diesel owners, its fine to discuss issues, but you seem to be under the impression that the relatively small number of people on here with issues makes you the majority, it doesn't.
I have averaged 42mpg over 22000 miles, show me an equivalent VVT-I that returns that figure, plus it feels faster than the 250 in normal driving, with all the extra torque. Its not as smooth admitted, but thats to be expected.
