Full Version: Question For Fellow Supercharged Is200's
Lexus Owners Club > Lexus Models > Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
DaveEllen
Was out today on the M2 no one about so gave the lex some stick changed up at 5500 in 5th :whistling: and sounded like a pressure relief value letting of some pressure....continued to accelerate in 6th with no ill effects.....

Did it again at max revs in 3rd later on........never had a s/charged machine so not sure if its good or bad.

Would think it gets to a prescribed pressure due to max revs/load etc and the air has to go somewhere ....but would appreciate clarification from someone out there.

It's normal mate, the sound you are hearing is due to the induction kit, the stock airbox is a LOT more soundproofed so you wouldn't normally hear it. I think (feel free to correct me) that it is because when you shift up or down you do not have your foot on the accelerator and the induction kit is not drawing in any air to the charger hence the sound of rushing air ceases!!

Si
DaveEllen
Si thanx for that....despite my signature the induction kit is not on  ....will be this friday though :whistling:

However your comments sound sensible and I'm somewhat relieved :)

Sorry to bring an old thread up guys but when it makes the noise with the TTE airbox is it loud?

Just wondered what I should expect?

Thanks in advance
Bazza

Dave...

I had this... The spring is too weak and not returning fast enough..

I even put a week spring in on purpose and got a DUMP valve sound.. :hehe:

But all back to normal now on mouse trap spring + a more stronger standard spring...

Hello, can anybody tell me how much it costs (roughly) to supercharge an IS200, mines a completely standard SE auto, is there other mods need before supercharging ect???
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Stu!
ColinBarber
£3000 + fitting. No other mods are required.

Thanks, does it realy make it 3 grands worth faster??? how does it affetc your insurance?
Bazza
is advisable to uprate the rear box
is highly advisable to have it de-precatted

insurance will rise approx 3 groups, and it will be harder to find companys to quote you

optimax should be used at all times if not a higher octane fuel

£3000 worth of fun

:)

Do you guys add Octane booster to your Optimax then? I remember seeing once that Dave does this - does it make much difference over and above the bog standard Optimax?

TIA
Rob
you dont "have" to use optimax at all!! you should just use 98 RON petrol
