Thanks for your asistance Stav! The charger is made by Vortech, Rob, the work has been going on for a week now this includes getting the timing belt kit replaced to. Yes this is the 1st supercharged IS300 in the UK, I was merely saying that the dealer was also looking into an alternaive s/c kit for the IS200 as the TTE S/c kit is no longer available. The video clip is of one of the initial start ups, I agree it was a little noisy on tick over but I am confident with the competence of the installers. We have discussed a custom air intake and heatshield for the filter whistling.gif but I decided to deal with that at a later date and go for the bespoke exhaust system and get the car mapped to see how much power I achieve with this kit. wink.gif

keep up the good work dude,

take it easy,

Monster-Mat
will be nice to see this when its all finished
Rob
do u know which model of supercharger this is?? i ask as some have straight cut gears which do make a lot of noise at low rpm.
aztecbandit1
Looking very good matey quite looking forward to seeing it up and running, Do you have an idea on the approximate power it will be making with the SC fitted when its been mapped etc? nice job well done biggrin.gif
Fargo
what ecu will you be using
B15RUP
Fargo, here is the link to the piggy back ECU I will be using, http://www.dastek.co.uk/unichip.htm. The nearer the 300 HP mark the better I will find out the actual HP on Tuesday when it is mapped, so fingers crossed. The actual charger that is being used is the Vortech V-5 supercharger and Rob you are correct it does have a straight cut spur gear so it will make some noise at low rpm. wink.gif
Ahmet
Good so far, keep up the pictures..... we like pictures smile.gif

Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The car is now fully mapped but Millway were unsuccessful in obtaining a reliable power ouptut as the car was slipping on the rolling road and was trying to engage back into third gear wacko.gif The drive back was amazing couldn't believe it was the same car!

I will be taking the car back to where I originally obtained a power output figure for when it was just fitted with the K&N induction kit, which will be on sale for any IS300 owners out there..... whistling.gif

With the custom exhaust she sounds lovely too! Just gotta get the other bits sorted and give her good clean! biggrin.gif

Hey there,

Just want to congratulate you on what seems to be a successful build. Hope the remaining "snag-list" items are polished off soon.

All the best,
Jamie

To all those wondering whats going on.... I haven't managed to get the car for a final dyno as I have been soo busy. ARB' s are fitted, gonna do the coilovers at some point next week. More piccies will be up soon. msn-wink.gif
B15RUP
Hello All!!

Due to my nan being very ill cry.gif the modifying was put to the bottom of the priority list, she has since recovered slightly and is now out of hospital. Then a last minute holiday to the states whistling.gif

The modifying has re-started! The figs bonnet prop kit has been fitted and so have the tanabe coilovers, but then noticed the OSF & NSF ball joints need replacing ohmy.gif not more money having to be spent, still got the A/T fluid to be replaced!

Then there will be the visit to WIM when im happy with the daily drive ride height, bloody speed bumps! offtopic.gif

I have a few other goodies sitting in their boxes at home to be fitted soon whistling.gif

I will add all piccies, as I know everyone loves them! Did I hear someone say HKS biggrin.gif

I haven' t had the car back on the rolling road as yet so not sure how much power the kit has added because of a CEL and the above mentioned but no doubt I will post the dyno graph FYI, so fingers crossed hopefully it makes the manufacturers claimed figures lol!

The only problems I have experienced is the CEL because the main CAT was removed and the some heat soak on the air intake. An o2 simulator will be fitted which will hopefully clear the CEL and I am looking into getting a heat shield and air duct manufactured for the air intake.

I may even make the WIM opening so hopefully will see some of you LOC'ers!

Watch this space. tongue.gif

sparkystav
Good to here its being sorted mated, and that Dyno graph will be publicly seen wink.gif

Good to see you back on mate. Bit worried about no cat though @ M.O.T. time ohmy.gif

Don't forget the WIM Grand Opening Day is Sunday May 25th.

It will be a huuuuuge meet biggrin.gif

B15RUP
Hi all, Im back!!

To all those members that have followed this thread in good faith, here is the update you have been waiting for. The CEL was not because of the removal of the main CAT but that has been sorted by the use of an o2 simulator anyway.

The dreaded code I had was P1346 which I have posted in a different thread.... Through numerous e-mails, phonecalls and fault finding, the UNICHIP was causing my CEL. mad.gif The car was taken back to the tuner so the UNICHIP could be investigated, after some discussion and head scratching adjustments were made to the original map and guess what?! No CEL for two days now, so fingers crossed the gremlin does not re-appear. hehe.gif

Today I went back to Red Dot in Watford, this is where the car was originally power tested. The N/A power output achieved was 203.5 HP which wasn't bad for a car that has done over 100,000 miles.

The F/I power output achieved today was, wait for it............ 317.7 HP!!

With addressing the issue of the air filter position there is definitely room for more power biggrin.gif

Did I hear someone say thicker headgasket, smaller pulley and maybe some bigger injectors whistling.gif

The dyno sheet, video of dyno run's and any pics I have will be uploaded very soon.
aztecbandit1
Nice one matey, i did wonder how you were getting on and look forward to the pic's, vids etc biggrin.gif

Thanks Anees! With the power the car is achieving presently the gearbox should cope fine. The transmission fluid is due for replacement and if there are enough pennies in the bank I will be investing in an oil cooler for the A/T fluid.

Hi Wozza! I got it dynoed at a place called Red Dot and it is based in Watford. The standard dyno produced a result very close to the stock stated HP taking into account she has over 100000 miles on her. Give it a go! msn-wink.gif

don't faint................

I agree with TDI

unless you can lock the auto into a given gear you cant get a true figure as it tries to kick down............auto supras (pre 1998) are OK as you lock it into a gear

my aristo just keeps kicking down so no TRUE dyno I believe the IS300 has a simialir non lock box
B15RUP
Even though I have never met you in person, are you feeling alright?!! tongue.gif

There were two power runs carried out with a couple of hp difference between them. The manufacturer claim the kit will push to in the region of 305HP and they have both A/T and M/T in the states.... I have had the CAT removed too, so the power achieved adds up. whistling.gif

I have some info regarding the auto-box that I researched, will try find it. The main thing is that it has been achieved here in the UK, the car is complete, is back on the road and it gives fellow IS300 owners an insight of what could be achieved if they consider the supercharger kit themselves. biggrin.gif

I'm fine thank you.

Fact is the IS300 auto gearbox is not capable of an accurate dyno as it can't be held in a particular gear to enable accurate readings to be taken.

Manual is300 no problem...........pre 98 Soop no prob auto IS300 no way

IS300 auto will not work end of.............

I'll also say that driven with any sort of ooooopmhh your car will go pop soon as you need more fuel and uprated rods/pistons as the 2jz-fe is like the 1jz-ge in rod/piston configuration.

GTE with toyota means uprated rods (H shaped and proper low compression ratio pistons) FE means fuel economy so hign compression for fuel economy......adding boost will fook this up.............

I did tell you this when you were deciding wether to go for turbo or s/c a while ago.

Can you publish the AFR ratios you are running ?

For what its worth the installation on your car could well have been done by Steptoe & Son. The air filter location is a joke as is the ecu location...but hey ho you pays your money & you take your choice.

I hope you enjoy many miles of trouble free motoring but will say to any IS300 owners looking to follow you to undertake vigorous due diligence before parting with any money

I'll also say that driven with any sort of ooooopmhh your car will go pop soon as you need more fuel and uprated rods/pistons as the 2jz-fe is like the 1jz-ge in rod/piston configuration. It is running 7-8 psi which is safe and even you have stated that in this club.

GTE with toyota means uprated rods (H shaped and proper low compression ratio pistons) FE means fuel economy so hign compression for fuel economy......adding boost will fook this up.............

I did tell you this when you were deciding wether to go for turbo or s/c a while ago. I was still waiting on the proposed supercharger info you were going to obtain from Lysolm and the completed IS200 utilising a Lysholm charger, it was all talk and no results.

Can you publish the AFR ratios you are running ? The car has been tuned by a very affluent tuner from the Toyota industry.

For what its worth the installation on your car could well have been done by Steptoe & Son. The air filter location is a joke as is the ecu location...but hey ho you pays your money & you take your choice.

The location of the air filter and ecu location has nothing to do with the fitter as its supplied from Vortech like that and there is always room for improvement. Have you ever completed a turboed or supercharged IS300 that was put back on the road 100% complete? NO

I hope you enjoy many miles of trouble free motoring but will say to any IS300 owners looking to follow you to undertake vigorous due diligence before parting with any money I am sure i will.

Why can you not congratulate/support members? Is it because your S/C IS300 went tits up you have to try and put down what I have achieved. You do not know everything and there are sources that know alot more than you with particular reference to the IS300.

I am sure we will meet one day.
