i have a w reg is200 changed the backbox for a jap one now the vvc is only kicking in at 4500rpm
compared to the 3500rpm when i first got it
is this the exhurst or have i got a fault?

same here, around 4500 revs... always been like that.

You had a problem before as the VVT-i does kick at 4250 rpm on a standard IS
