TIP - try the autoglym extra gloss protection on the wheels after you have cleaned and dry them ....... smooth as a baby's b*m :)

Yep - spot on Steve......... ;)

Best stuff I have seen, love the finish when you run your hands over it afterwards. Like a new car.

Not cheap though, but know a friend who has access to getting it cheap so get it half price! :)
ricky_is200
Thats interesting, I'd heard before it was not that good and not worth it over normal polish. Maybe I'll give it a go.

Just been to Big H and bought some. Trying it at the weekend :P

Can't comment on the Autoglym product as I haven't ever used it.
Did however use Turtle Wax Gloss Guard at the weekend - Fantastic stuff - goes on easy, buffs off easy and then leaves your car with a fantastic shine. I chose this as it was recommended as best buy on the Autoexpress website in a product test, which also included Autoglym.

Just thought I would mention it.

I've used Turtle Wax Gloss Guard recently too, very easy to apply.

I set off the next morning after rain and saw a tidal wave of water blowing towards me on the bonnet. I've always waxed the car but not seen that effect so clearly before.

The car's stayed cleaner for longer too.

Not washed it since, but I expect that will be easier - a cumulative benefit :)

The best stuff i have ever used is the Autogylm Gold, followed on from the standard Autoglym Red. I use the Autoglym gold on the wheels and painted calipers also. The recent Autoexpress review really rated the Autoglym gold, although they felt it was let down by the 'high' price £8.99.
Steve ( West Mids )
Good point Kam, always treat the Autoglym Gold as a finishing product over the top of a normal polish.
Where did Autoglym finish in the product test
Sorry mate been dropping the Mrs off then driving back from work <_<

I quote;

"Exactly what we have come to expect of Autoglym, with a vigorous performance. However, it's let down by the price, and some may find it awkward to have to leave Extra Gloss on for up to an hour before buffing. "

Didn't make the top three.
megures is the way to go it is fantastic
Autoglym fared better - don't shoot the messenger
Veece
And if your interested in the verdict (which your probably not  ) ?

I quote;

"Gloss Guard has done it again and, perhaps even more surprisingly, come away with the spoils by a convincing margin. Surely a rival polish manufacturer will produce something to match it soon?
Comma's Top Gloss was the best of the conventional offerings, and prevented a Turtle Wax rout. It was chased home by the US firm's PTFE and Extreme products. If you prefer pastes, go for the Simoniz Original."

I used the Tough Seal wax on my wheels at the weekend and I too was totally amazed with the outcome. Brake dust just doesn't want to stick to it. :)

And with the excellent Gold discount it's definitely worth buying. ;)
Bluebeard
Have used Autoglym products for years on a number of cars and bikes.

Ive also tried the MERs, Turtle Wax etc.

But I always come back to Autoglym.

Last car a black Saab and now the Kensington Green IS. I also use it on me Sunday car a Gold Jaguar Sovereign (which is going to be used as a wedding motor)

It may seem expensive but like everything else in this world you get what you pay for.

Overall I would say that its about as good as it gets and the rest just try to imitate its benchmark

a - I am working the weekend again in Warrington

b - if I am coming down here Sunday.

was hoping to call in for the last few hours - now its all up in the air

:(

I am with wildrenes, Meguiars is the nuts. Will not use anything else on mine. Easily applied, easily removed, and the results are absolutley fantastic. the car looks wet all the time. (using gold class). A word of warning, i have only seent he product mentioned once, but will advise........MER eats lacquer. The reason it puts a nice shine on the car is because it impregnates the lacquer with a glossing agent, which over a 2 year period (of constant use), will bubble the lacquer!!! That info came from the mer customer care department, of which has now cost MER a lot of money in compensation, and forcing them to re design the product!!!

See you have a Kensington Green IS. So have I. I have used Mer but after reading all the ravings over AutoGlym I am off to Halfords. Its the final shine I am after.

I bought the Autoglym Gloss stuff last week to use in time for Gaydon. Great stuff, but by the time I got to Gaydon my pride and joy was all mucky...

A dab of Peter's Meguers (ta very much) and it was brand spankingly shiney (sigh) - still looks really good now.

And Wildrnes' polish was fantastic on my wheels - really, really impressed.

Aaaaghhhh, you lot are costing me a fortune. It's got to a stage where my husband's starting to beg me to go back to buying shoes - he reckons it's cheaper.
Brian Berry
I have now tried Autoglym extra protection and its fab. Will now be using Mer a lot less say twice a year.
mik
Did the extra gloss protection thing yesterday and the car looks wonderful (esp since it didn't rain last night) :yahoo:

Used super resin polish first on some of the panels that had light scratches before using extra gloss all over car and leaving for an hour to dry before polishing off - rate both products highly :P

Only problem now is that chip marks on bonnet are more noticable :( hmmm seem to remember there's an article on Gold somewhere about this ...
imi
Just a question, dose anyone use anything special to get rid of the crappy white stuff left in the small gaps here n there after using the Autoglym Resin Polish? :arrrggg-matey: :arrrggg-matey:

When i use the Gloss Protection, i can get rid of some of it... but it's more noticable on dark coloured cars.. especially black...
wildrnes
yes it is easy to get rid of em

take ur time

it is also down to the polishing cloth
terry towls are best

esp if they are none terry on the other side

use terry side to remove the wax and the smooth side to final polish :hehe:
imi

Thanks for the info...

Where will i be able to get hold of Terry Tows.. will Halfords sell'em??
Steve ( West Mids )
I get mine from Mothercare :D

Meguiars (again) make things that look like big flat cotton buds for just this job. Haven't bought any - yet..... Have a look on the Meguiars website

Used Autoglym shampoo and polish, then tried Maguires, I can now tell you that the Autglym is now residing in the back of the garage for those special occasions, like for use on the wifes car, no contest. B)
Unity_neil
so where do we get meguiers from? is it mail order from the US or something? Just ordered over a grands worth of House of Kolor paint (for the Chev not the IS) so obviously I may as well get the best polish....
Bobski
you could try their web site or a site i found called speeding, or just do a search via google for meguiers :hehe:

I ordered some from Speeding.co.uk. Very good site with free delivery :)
Zee007
or you could find a performanve car store locally that may sell it....... like graham goode..... ;)
imi
i just ordered it from "www.maguiars.co.uk", should be arriving soon....
yoshi
You got it all wrong - Zymol is the BEST!

www.zymol.co.uk

The stuff is wicked, wax lasts MONTHS and the cloths/towels are superb. All the stuff is natural plant extracts etc. so safe for everyone.

I've got the full sha-booga, cost £500+ but the car gleams and is easy clean, stop my paint oxidizing.

They have specific wax called 'NSX' wax for Jap cars which is what I use.
mudzs
Did he say £500 :o
