As far back as I can remember [and that's pretty far], whenever I bought comprehensive car insurance
it always included :

'the policyholder may also drive other peoples vehicles[ with permission] with third party only cover'[/size]

Now it appears, this is not automatic on 'fully comp' and you may find that helpful drive home for your friend
[who's had a few], in his car means you have no insurance.

Likewise your helpful delivery of your mates car for its' MOT ... an easy trap to fall into, as of course no-one tells you this cover has been dropped when you renew... tomato.gif

Worth checking......

Mine allows me to.

Apparently the government put pressure on the insurance companies to stop giving "driving other cars" insurance as it was being abused by people buying second cars and registering them to their mates and then driving them.....

So yes some companies have dropped it but others still keep it...

I too 'discovered" this restriction when I took insurance with the RAC. Their response was the same, removed due to abuse.
I'm going back to directline next year, cheaper too now.

My broker told me that I couldn't have the thrid party cover due to mine being insured for 15k business miles per annum. It's a pain but he sourced a really good premium / excess combination so that makes up for it for me.

Here in Spain most policies including TPTF covers any driver in your car but you are not covered in any other car.
