My LS400 is developing a fault with the motorised steering wheel adjustment.
It retracts fully when I remove the key but doesn't always come back to the same position when the key is reinserted. Sometimes it moves a little and just stops. Sometimes it comes to the correct place but less frequently now.
Is this likely to be a loose connector or something more sinister?
I don't see the point of the wheel retracting in the first place. It's a feature for beer bellied drivers so it's not necessary and now it's starting to annoy me.
Thanks

And I thought it was just me that had these faults!!
I agree, it's a silly feature which is nothing short of a gimmick (but it does give my beer belly a bit more room!)
I had the same problem, then when the stolen vehicle tracking device was fitted the engineer had to retract the steering wheel to it's maximum setting (i.e. out and down towards the driver's seat cushion) so that he could get behind the speedo. This extreme angle seems to have done the trick for now and it's worked fine ever since - No doubt it will return at some point though!
Give this a try first. I'd also be tempted to take off the steering column cover and see if there either anything obstructing it.
Good luck - Let us know how it goes.

I'll get my screwdrivers to it this weekend. Hopefully something I can fix myself. Either that or just rip the wires out so it stays fixed in the same position!!!!!!!!

Great advice! My 95 LS 400 had the same problem for ages. I tried the 'extreme angles' and it worked! Good stuff!
