I'm thinking about selling our LS 430, but am having problems working out the price. It's a beautiful luxury car and a dream to drive, but after a couple of years with it we've decided we ought to downsize.

Details are:

LS 430 with Premium Pack. Year 2001/51. Platinum ice with Sussex leather. 106,000 miles on clock. Had a new cam belt at 100000 mile service. Full Lexus service history. Is about to have a service. MOT until September 2008.
1 previous owner. Has built-in sat nav, ventilated leather seats and all the other luxuries you would expect. Well looked after. Good condition, but some wear and tear. Small dent in near-side door. Some tiny chips in paintwork. Small tear to back of front passenger seat. Has ultrasonic parking sensors, but there is a fault with the rear ones so they've been turned off (didn't want extra expense). Alloy wheels are showing signs of wear (I've learnt that this is a weakness with Lexus).

Would appreciate it if anyone could give me an idea of value. Have looked at Parkers and Whatcar, but different prices. Also not clear about what to add for the Premium Pack at this age of car.

Parkers says nearly £13k with half the mileage, but they start at £7k on trader with higher mileage, £9k would put it on the same trend as the current ones on trader, have you checked how much they are locally to yourself?

Are you looking to px at dealer or sell private with px.
Why not add some photo's on here you may get some interest.
These are great cars but dont sell that well because of running costs.

Thanks for advice Ian. Would like to sell privately. Fortunately don't need to trade in as we have another car, a workhorse Volvo. My last experience at trying to trade in a car involved a dealer who started by deducting the cost of 4 new wheels! The final price he arrived at was a joke. I wouldn't want to give away such a nice car to a dealer. Will add some photos as soon as I can when have got camera and computer sorted.

I like those kind of dealers who deduct things off the trade in, cos I just look for things to deduct off the car i'm trading for, works both ways
