Full Version: Will Is250 17" Alloys Fit An Is200
Lexus Owners Club > General Lexus Forums > Wheels & Tyres
Noel
Hi all,

do alloys from the newer IS250 go straight on to an IS200/altezza with out any fuss?

rears are 245 seems wide? or is it fine

my alloys are disgustingly corroded so looking at my options

thanks

i was looking at 18" IS250 sport wheels and they were gonna fit ok matey. would say 17's shouldnt be a prob at all. but yeah 245 is only 3cm wider than standard fit tyres. some guys on here r saying its fine to run upto a 9" + wide rear wheel!!

I have the IS250 Sport 18" rims on my IS200.
Same stud pattern, slot straight on.

These required a very minor arch mod due to the extra ICE Boot Build weight carried
and they are running 255/40x18 Dunlop Sports Maxx. These should fit fine on a
non lowered S or SE. I'd suggest the Sport model may require a minor arch roll or cut.

The 17" fit without any mods. I have the IS200 Sport and IS250 SE-L and have the 17" 250 wheels on the 200 Sport...no probs.

Very odd huh.gif as my 18" rims only touched very slightly on outer wheelarch because of the weight of my I.C.E. boot build.
I'm running 225/40x18 Front, 255/40x18 rear.
Maybe the offset of my wheels is different ??
Front: 18" x 8" 45mm offset , Rear: 18" x 8.5" 50mm offset

tiz lowered 30mm.they are 17inch rims of is250.had no probs with catching the arches.maybe the 250 sport has the 18s fitted.note.the wheel centers for them were £12 each.OUCH

I had to grind the little lug off the suspension arms as the 17" rims just touched on the rim edge...just thought I was unlucky, but the 18" would actually clear the lug so no problem at all to fit the 18".
Noel
sorry now i'm a little confused? huh.gif

17" need something ground down to fit?
18" go straight on?
unsure.gif
Noel
Looks like i'll have to make them fit as the deals been done wink.gif

pictures next week ... hopefully smile.gif

Going on what Tango says the 18" rims clear the lug by virtue of their greater diameter,
(they actually go outside & around the lug)
The seventeens are smaller diameter and are tight enough to just catch the lug on the inner rim edge.

Hope that makes sense biggrin.gif

Wozza..spot on. I only found out when I spun the wheel and could hear the slight rubbing noise. There's very little contact and clearance could be made with a hand file, but I used a junior hacksaw to remove the majority of the lug and smoothed it off with a file afterwards...it was quicker.

would you have a pic of this "lug" was it there for a reason?

Is this lug on all hubs or just the rears?

cheers
wildybeast
with the 17" there is a lug on the front suspension arm which needs grinding off flat.18"will clear the lug so no need to grind.
Noel
Thanks... i was just out with my torch to have a look, i see it now wink.gif

wonder if a small spacer would also work? or would it rub on the outside arch then?

Not on the hubs, it's just on the vertical front suspension arms, and I would suggest it's only there to assist in the manufacture of the arm, not for any functional use or strength requirement.
