I blame this one on the wife. She left the back hatch open on our 1997 Lexus 450 and the battery died. The radio then went into security mode and locked up. She then tried to input the security code into the radio, but apparently she didnt remember the number correctly and didnt write it down. GENIUS.

So she did some research and then tried the VIN # fix which didnt work because she had already changed the number previously to a 3 digit number. So she went throught the max number of times that you can input the code and the LCD screen now says HELP.

We called a dealer and they want to charge $75 to wipe the computer clean they said.

1. Is this right?
2. Is there an easier way to unlock my vintage 90's radio.

Pls help. I have 2 kids that are killing me with having to listen to Hannah Montana on the DVD player. Thanks.
