Hi guys, this is my first post.

I haven't owned any Lexus yet, but I'm thinking to buy a 1992 model SC 400

the car i'm looking at has about 90k on it and probably has FSH.

I'm not so familiar with lexus at this age, is this car still reliable to run now?

is it likely that I may have a big bill on repairing or changing something?

oh btw, how much would it cost for a service of the car??

Any advice would be apprieciated.

cheers,

Allen

It's a Toyota Soarer smile.gif

I had one of those for many years. It was a wonderful car but to tell the truth it was quite expensive to run. It's all relative of course and it depends on what you call expensive. It's a compley car especially if you have the TEMS suspension (which is wonderful BTW, I wish my current Lexus had it)
If you look on the forum http://toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/ then there are some Soarer Gurus there.

As with any car of that age it is difficult to tell. Depends on what has already been done. The body is not prone to rust but metallic top coat can lift in places. The engine is usually bomb proof but a set of belts will cost you £600 to get changed. Plugs, rotor arms and caps will set you back over £100. Coils are know to fail but not too bad. The suspension coulkd set you back quite a few hundred if it hasn't already been done as at that age and mileage it will need new bushes or arms and that can be expensive. Suspension can be coil spring or air. Coil spring cheaper but air rides better.

For all the information you need you would be better looking here

Amazing car and can be amazing value but at that age can also be a money pit. Choose carefully.
