Does anyone know of a problem on a 99 GS300 sport that causes the xenon headlights to pack in? Drivers side worked intermittently then packed in, passenger has now done same. Works on a few rare occasions.Toyota dealership said its a computer in the actual lamp that has probably affected by water and that both lamps will have to be replaced at a cost of 1000 EURO EACH!!!!! They seem to think its a common problem. Anyone ever heard about this?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First thing I would try is the cheapist option and that is to replace the bulbs. I think they can be purchased for around £80 each. The bulbs can last for a long time and it wouldn't suprise me if your car still has the original bulbs. After trying new bulbs, if that doesn't work then it could well be the ballasts or as Toyota call them, the ECU's.

The bulbs should outlast the car... they don't burn like normal bulbs...
If it turns out to be the ballast/ECU.. I would be tempted to buy a cheap set of HID's from Ebay... and fit those.

i bought a decent set of hids from the well regarded chromeline, but i seen a post on here saying you cant fit hids to xenon headlights. They were going to go into my 328 sport but if it solves my problem i'd be well chuffed!!! Can this be done?

I would say so... there are kits on ebay that are for D2S and D2R fitments... can't remember which one it is though..

They say the replacement is D2C which either way should fit and work as good as the original.
