I discovered a water leak in the spare wheel compartment on my 2002 RX 300. During rain this compartment fills up with water. The entry-point has to be on the driver-side, as I have water also in the compartment lateral to the driver wheels compartment.
I checked the sponge gaskets to the rear lights, they were worn out, but mostly on the passenger side, I contacted the Lexus dealer in Oslo, they told me that these gaskets were not sold seperatly(?!), i had to purchase the rear lights to get new gaskets. I then made these gaskets out of some rubber material. but this has not solved the problem. I am pretty sure that the leak has to be another place than trough the rear light holes.

Have anyone experienced this?, anyone suggestion to solution?

I had the exact same problem on a Ford Mondeo with water leaking past the gasket on the rear light clusters. Like you I was told I needed new light clusters as the gaskets were not available separately. I solved the problem by applying some silicone rubber bathroom sealant to the gaskets before assembly. The fix lasted 9 years until I sold the car.

I was pretty sure these gaskets were responsible for the water leak, but after replacing them with my home-made gaskets the problem remains the same....
Any other suggestions?? Sun roof drainage channels?
