Hi,

I was robbed 2 weeks ago and theifs also stole my car keys but not the car. I need help urgently on how to get new keys made for my car. Can anyone help please
Mike_B
Have they taken ALL the keys, or just one set? You will need at least one master key to have new ones made - master keys are the ones with 3 buttons so they can open the boot as well. When you buy the car new, you get 2 master and one slave key.

If you have one of the masters still, you can get one made up at a dealer quite easily. Otherwise, it could prove seriously expensive and probably best to run it through your insurance company...

Thanks for responding. When I bought this car 6 years ago I was only given 1 key and now the last key has gone aswell. I spoke to this company who can make me a key with a transponder for £350. But as you said it is quite expensive.

Where was the key when it was stolen?Your home contents insurance may cover it.
Hope you get it resolved.

Always thought you needed new ECU if no master key available - plus you'll need all new locks otherwise they will always be able to get in your car.

Does the £350 also include "deleting" of the old keys from the car so they will no longer work - If not and your car gets nicked then you may not be covered under your car insurance.

my understanding is the 1998-2000 models cannot be reprogrammed without a master key. For Oct 2000+ models I believe Lexus dealers are able to re-programme using Official Lexus diagnostic equipment
