Dear All
My Lexus IS200 has been in the garage for 2 weeks now - its just had a new radiator head gasket and head gaset skimmed plus cam belt and adjuster PLUS 2 new coils as when he put it back together it wasnt firing properly and the diagnostic machine told him the 2 coils needed replacing!!!
The problem is it keeps stalling and the mechanic is stumped and i'm desperate for my car back so thought you may be able to help.
I'm dreading the bill !!!!!
Thanks

Wow, this doesnt sound right at all, was your engine running roughly originally? misfiring on a cylinder perhaps?, normally the headgasket would only be replaced if there's a water leak or perhaps loosing cylinder compression but I feel thats unlikely on that engine unless its done lots of miles. What kind of mileage has your car completed?

when he replaced the Head, did he corectly fit the timimg belt ? It only needs to be 1 tooth out to cause problems........

me thinks it is one tooth out, HMMMM !!! sounds like this IS is in a bad way with head skimming and all that..
depends upon mileage and how it has been looked after. But that is my two pence worth..

Dear All
Thanks for your help with my engine trouble - still havent got the car back yet. He did ask if we wanted to take it back "as it was running much better - but every now n then stalling"!!!!! I polietly told my husband to tell him no. He seems to think that the rest of the coils need replacing - we had no probs before it went in. I will ask him to check the timing belt again though.
Keep you updated

Hi there and welcome to the LOC

Sorry to hear of your troubles, I can't believe that the mechanic potentially took on the work without knowing too much about the car - disappointing.
Anyways, I hope all is resolved as swiftly as possible for you.
All the best,
Jamie
