Hi all,

Does anyone know or heard of a clicking sort of sound or even a sound like little stones being thrown on metal. The sound occurs after a drive and can be heard when the car is switch off and parked up. It comes from under the bonnet.

I have heard this on a couple of cars and just wondered if anyone knows what it may be?

The only thing i can think of is it has something to do with the engine or exhaust cooling down...

Yeah I've heard that before, I assumed the same.
TigerFish
It is the exhaust cooling, especially the cats.
Abbas
Do you think that's perfectly normal for the car to do it after every drive during hot and cold seasons?
treborlex

yes my is 250 does this its defo the exhaust & cat cooling down.
DJ Wozza
I think this is normal once the engine has reached a normal operating temperature.
I'd only be worried if it did the same thing after 30 seconds running from cold.
Abbas
Glad to hear its normal behaviour... Thanks for your input guys.
