The mirror switch select needs to be selected to 'L' or 'R'. Check that your switch isn't in the central poistion.
They only dip down when reversing on SE-L models, not on base or SE models (I'm not sure about Sport models though).

They do. (dip down on Sport)
It's only available for the Sports & Se-L model, simple because they have memory functions for the seats, mirrors etc.
