The Hubble telescope has picked up images of a star going supernova.

These are genuine images folks - not a photochop in sight.


Personally, I think this is both astounding, and breath takingly beautiful.

Fantastic.

Matt - do you know if Liverpool planetarium have restarted their thing where you can go use their roof telescope and get info off lecturers and stuff? Apparently they merge all sorts of stuff within the planetarium and take you out to see the real thing. Lasts a number of weeks I believe. (You have to subscribe but I've heard it's really worth it.)

I was going to do it last year but they stopped it because they were doing it up.

don't know about the planetarium mate - haven't been for [b]ages[/b].

but - now you mention it - it is excellent, and I'm sure my 11 year old nephew would benefit from a trip in the forth coming half term ;)
