Hey Guys,

Anyone managed to get your brake pads replaced with low-brake-dust ones?

I think someone posted about a TSB but I've checked with Lexus Bracknell and they said it only applies to the US. They said they do not stock any other brake pads.

Well, feeling disappointed, I searched online and found these:-

When I told Lexus Bracknell about these, their initial response was that they won't install it for me. The service guy (who's been very helpful) will check with his manager and get back to me next week.

In the event the answer is still no, can anyone recommend someone who might? I'm also looking to get my alignment/geometry checked out.

Cheers.

I have had a few rants to Lexus UK customer care regarding this issue with no luck other then a promised refund on the front discs fitted at 20k service .

Their take on this subject is that although the US has a fix we drive differently in Europe so do not need it, also because they have had little or no complaints regarding brake dust they can not act .

So if we all complained about it in numbers they would have to respond.

Cheers

I did the same, and provided a copy of the TSIB to my dealership Service Manager. As it was the first time he'd seen it he contacted Lexus GB, but got the same answer as you, plus some BS about it being a different part number in the States and/or the pads being made by a different manufacturer (smoke and mirrors).
In the States the initial TSIB for excessive brake dust was for the IS350, but the IS250 was added to it a a later date...it's a response to the number of complaints, and in the UK/Europe we don't have sufficient numbers.
It really pi$$es me off that Lexus do not apply a TSIB globally as a matter of course, even more so considering how much we pay for the cars in comparison to out American cousins. censored.gif
As a matter of interest I bought the OEM ceramic pads issued under the TSIB in the States, should be fitting them in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Tango,

Could you please let me know how much you got them for? Was it delivered to the UK?

Also, you gonna fit them yourself?

Sorry elcra, but I bought them from Lexus Westside in Houston and carried them back on BA.

They're also for the IS350 not the IS250, and I'll be fitting them with IS350 Calipers and discs at WIM if Tony gets his roller shutter doors installed.
You may be able to order them (IS250 pads) in the UK through the dealership...if they don't have the part number I'll get it from the Houston dealer.

I have some pads in my IS200 on the front which give little to zero brake dust, they are called blueprint, I think of the top of my head but can check the details in my bumf...

Here's the brake dust TSIB if anyone else wants to have a go with their local stealership, and I've added the one for curing the interference you get if you use an MP3 player off the AUX socket and a charger in the central storage unit, because they're unlikely to either know about it, and or if they do will not volunteer to carry out this fix shutup.gif .
