Daft question perhaps but do you still need to run engines in when new ie only drive at 50mph max ?
RayKhan
Don't think so, all new engines are already run in

I don't think so either, but I've never heard of this 50mph limit before.......I thought it was always don't take it over 3000rpm or so?

I think its just common sense, don't thrash it or labour it in any gear. Remember how much you paid for it and how long you want to keep it!

as above but also vary the revs as much as possible ie dont just sit at the one speed all the time .this can cause wear patterns on the bores .One of the worst things you can do is sit at 70 on the motorway all day.

The last reply is very true, dont sit at one speed. There is no running in time any more or different oil used for the first year.Take it steady and enjoy your new car! best IS ever made was the 250.

i agree, but whereas engines are probably pretty much run-in, the transmission and brakes etc won't be.
