I've been searching for exacly that, but haven't found any. However, next friday I will get my HKS Silent HiPower muffler and make a great soundclip comparing it to the original muffler sound.

Cheers

Hi mate,

I'll gladly make a lot of sound clips and use the best of them in a small video. I was thinking of comparing inside; idle/revving/motorway cruising and outside; idle/revving/drive by. Stay tuned wink.gif

My IS200 isn't very stock, but concerning the engine nothing has be done to it. I used to have a K&N filter but Lexus replaced it with an original one the last time I had it serviced.

yeah i used to have a K&N panel filter, but the K&N filter might be more effficient + the hks exhaust smile.gif and the sound of the panel filter might be different smile.gif

Finally!! My HKS muffler has arrived and can be picked up. I will record a few sound clips before I fit it and a few more when it's fitted.

It turned out to be rather expensive with the shipping (6000kr ~ £480)

The box turned out to be a bit bigger than I expected. It was a bit a struggle getting it inside my car tongue.gif

What does it say?

Part 1: Stock muffler - http://www.garaget.org/video/72rc0w4tugxv

I've just fitted the HKS muffler and I'm completely satisfied with it biggrin.gif When cold, it actually sounds less than the stock muffler. When driving there is absolutely no difference inside the car, but behind it the sound is really sporty in high revs. I might upload a temporary sound clip later tonight.

4 cylinder IS200? I didn't know they exist, apart from the Altezzas. Mine's a 2L straight six. Of course it sounds a bit different in real life. The camera isn't that good and the video is compressed smile.gif

More sound clips are coming. Stay tuned

ahahaha lol,
well it might be the sound quality of the soundclip!!! smile.gif but it sure sounds better in real life smile.gif

i was just wondering, i just want as quiet as possible, but as u mentioned before it almost stock sound leveluntill you push the pedal down right? smile.gif or only in high revs:) i think i am going to purchase one as well smile.gif

but still wait for more sounds clips first biggrin.gif

They are very quiet unless your foot is planted. They look great too.
I have the HKS Superdragger on mine, not quite so subtle as yours.
84Stoney
I have this exhaust and although i would never have gone for the silent myself (probably the super dragger, a'la Wozza) the previous owner put it on and i really rate it.

@Alantje it will be quieter that the stock one, most of the time. When warm and really pushing hard, it has a lovely little tone to it, but still not loud at all. And even with a supercharger, all the noise comes from under the bonnet!

that is a very informative post of you smile.gif thank you!!

i just want to hear the difference between stock and the hi power silent, i just want the comfort and dont wanna hear it when cruising, but it may be a little bit noticable when pushing hard and revving high smile.gif ( it must be very subtile)

and it isnt a shame to let others know that there is a 6 cylinder under the bonnet smile.gif

No worries mate.

I have the TTE supercharger and the sound that comes from the induction kit truely has to be heard to be believed, it is an absolute monster, sounds like a space shuttle or something, it just sucks so damn hard!!! Exhaust tone is not even detectable!

Should be pretty subtle on the standard engine.
dazz32
Ive got the HKS Silent hi-power fitted to my car and thats a standard IS200 sport and i must say the exhaust is lovely.!!! sounds really nice when warm slightly deeper tone outside the car but you cant really hear it at all on the motorway...go on get one you wont regret it ...!!! biggrin.gif

Oh and it dont stay shiny for long..!!!! biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Will the HKS Silent muffler fit an IS300, does anyone know? I'm currently looking at buying one from the states as I have a few relatives over there.

hi there,

Thanks smile.gif i will wait for your soundclips~~

The is300 exhaust would fit the is200, but on the is200 the pipe would be longer sticking out of the bumper.

while is200 exhaust on the is300 will burn the bumper, as the exhaust would be too short and stick inside the bumper.

Alan

The best way to do is to switch the rear bumper as well

What is the hks part number? I would need part number to order is200 exhaust here in finland. Hks dealer will order exhaust to me if he can get correct part number.

Gorgeous, man i really love your car!!!

ive got this fitted to my car now so if anyone is willing video or make a soundclip of it they are ery welcome

Sorry for bringing up an relative old post, but does this exhaust give any noticable increase in power? I've read somewhere alongside 5hk's, is this correct?

Yes, it should do. I have a supercharger, so my power comes mainly from that!

But you should see an increase, maybe around 5bhp. I would reccommend an induction kit also, as they will work well together and give more power and better throttle responce.
DJ Wozza
I have the HKS Super Dragger on mine, deffo felt it crispened up the throttle response, and I was told about 5 more gee gees

I would expect the performance of these two to be the same. Just not the noise!
DJ Wozza
the noise is wonderfull, simply wonderful msn-wink.gif
Chris.S
is anyone still wants a soundclip then perhaps someone can video mine
84Stoney
Could film mine for people. But the front makes so much noise it would be pointless!
