Hey guys. Just got me 'tez last night so still playing with all the toys in it. It has the pop up "GPS Voice Navigation System" screen but it remains blank and rather dead looking Sad
It responds to the open/close buttons and the tilt button too but cant get it to display anything. Ive pressed every button on the center console and on the little remote thats nestled in beside the gear leaver (even changed the batteries in that) but no joy!
I got a lovely manual for it in the glove box but of course its all in Japanese.

Sound familiar to anyone? Any feedback at all would be appreciated.

I have similar problem with mine for some time, the only difference is that my manual is in german :) If you have found a solution please write a response.
Well mine went black when a choose an option in the display's menu - it was the one to the right (I can't say what it was because it was on german :). Now when I switch to "ACC" or "ON" and open the display, it shows the welcome screen and goes black :?

Regards

P.S. Sorry for the "UP" of the post

Try rebooting the computer, I had the SatNav crash on my Camry and ended with a black screen. Easiest way is take the fuse out, I can't remember which one it was unfortunately, I just took each one out of the box under the bonnet in sequence (leaving a few obvious ones alone) until the whole Nav/Audio/Screen etc didnt respond, put the fuse back in, screen lit up saying please wait for a minute or so then it was fine.

Thanks, I'll look to find the right one fuse and give it a try.

Have you still got the standard stereo in?

I *think* that if you dont you need a special adaptor to get it working.

correct stav...

or to use the main pcb of the oem stereo connected to the polling of the nav unit.

u also need to leave in the oem amp if it has this..

The car has no after market adjustments. I didn't get what you're talking about (there are probably two reasons for that - not a native English speaker and not a technical specialist :) So a have a standard audio system. I've checked the fuses and found out that the following fuses have something to do with the navigation system : STARTER; ECU-IG; GAUGE; RADIO No2(Driver Side Junction Block); TV(Passenger Side Junction Block). Is it save the remove them, does it matter how much time they are off the block and at what position should be the ignition key. The service manual that I look in is the one for IS300 (2002), hopefully it doesn't differ much from that of the IS200 (1999).

Mine does the same thing but i've got an aftermarket stereo and the loom has been hacked to pieces (not by me i might add) so i doubt it will ever work again! although their appears to be a cd/dvd drive in the boot.
Monster-Mat
the japanese unit in the altezza wont work in europe

the chap in sofia, you will find that the ribbon cable has broken

Surely not Mat as Vi Vid gets the welcome screen displayed before the screen goes black ?
It was working until he did something on the options list ?

Maybe he is better off posting on LOC EU ?
