Just got in this second, completely knackered!

If only there was a trophie for most amount of runs, yes its true i got 24 runs in, i thought i did pretty well considering we should of only had 8 runs. whistling.gif biggrin.gif

I also came last time wise, my quickest lap was 74.090, although i thought i did pretty well when you look at some of the other cars that where there and what power they where putting out. and i was running pretty much standard n/a car.

Spoke to Dave for a bit and im thinking of entering Toyota sprint series in N/A class next year shifty.gif

Nice to see old faces and meet new ones, and i had a good bit of competition with Paul to see who was quickest, he beat me cry.gif

I had a really good time but would have been nice to see some more is200's there so we could of compared times of similar cars............I WAS THE ONLY IS200 ON THE TRACK!!!! cry.gif cry.gif unsure.gif

Does make me laugh looking at the pictures, look well funny those wheels blush.gif

Found them in the garage and chucked them on the car, was going to go over to the drift area and rip them to shreads but it was wet and they would of taken ages to destroy. Going to get some slicks for them i think shifty.gif

I loved it, couldn't get enough!!! i think i was smilling most of the day, as most of you saw, well worth the 4 hour + drive there shutup.gif

i have done a few track days before but this was the first in the lexus, didn't think it would be any good on track but i was so shocked. Handled really well with the coilovers, struts etc.

Im now in two minds, do i keep her as is and add a few more bits or go for the full on stripped out track racer??? Never would have thought about stripping it out but the cars pretty old anyway and prob not worth much, the only thing thats stopping me is the fact it will prob effect the resale value, not that i am going to sell it any time soon. Hmmm, choices unsure.gif tomato.gif

slippery !

was hard getting it off the line without spinning the wheels, kind of started gripping once it was in third gear !
as soon as the boost came in it started spinning again
the best results came when i turned the boost down to 0.8
but it was handling the corners well, especially considering the conditions

Hi guys,

Just finished watching the F1 and Top gear (had to get me priorities right)

Had a really really great day, other than the Nurburgring this is the first time I have legally driven a car in anger. I enjoyed it so much.

I was the first one to get there at 7.30am and it was soooo cold and windy, I really did think 'what have I let myself in for?'

Anyway once we got going it was very wet and slippery, but slowly all out times got better. At the end of the day I had improved on my first lap time by 13 seconds!!!! Was well chuffed.

The ST was great to drive and I could feel everything the car was doing. One big problem was the amount of torque the derv puts out, it was spinning in 2nd and 3rd which made it hard to accelerate around corners without spinning.

Jason and I also had a nice little competition as our cars were similar on bhp. I ended up beating him by around half a second, so very close.

Had a crap journey home and got caught in a traffic jam on the M11 for about an hour.

Was nice to see you all again.

Thanks to Dave for sorting this out and thanks to Kamelia and Janey for keeping my wife company.

Hopefully we will have better weather for the next one.

Paul

Started yesterday in the car at 8am then drove all day around track only breaking for lunch or tyre changes, then drove home at 4pm and got stuck in 2 hours of traffic on the m11 censored.gif
when I finally made it through the traffic I then put the pedal to the floor for the entire journey back and managed to get back in warp speed time, I then ate a quick dinner and had to leave for work
Which meant another hour of driving each way and I'm now finally home looking forward to my bed, I don't think I'll want to drive anywhere (unless work related) soon... sick of it cry.gif
Glad to rep for the BMW crowd, only beaten by Russel in the 4WD Celica GT4 so doing well considering I was basically using cheapest possible drift tyres on the rear and didn't expect to be good at all in the wet.

Here are the pic's Nat took she kept mistaking other dark coloured cars (particularly Jason's Black Lexus) for my BMW so she got a few good ones of you
I love the sideways round the last bend picture, I think the Javelin pics will show some good shots of quite how sideways I kept getting round that 1..

PM me for any High Res copy's not these 800x600 resized versions

Work has already begun whistling.gif she has started getting naked msn-wink.gif

We need to get more IS200's entering these type of events, this was originally meant to be a lexus event and it was only me and Dave that entered with lexus cars. I understand some of the other members don't have lexus anymore and keeping these members with us even though they have left the lexus brand shows how friendly we are but i can't believe no other IS200's where competing!!!!!

Yeh i know what your saying Steve, One of the main reasons i dont take mine on, is incase i damage my car as i just cant afford to replace it at the moment if i did do some serious damage to it cry.gif but maybe next year if things pick up i'll invest in another car and then have a go at it as its one of the things i'd love to do biggrin.gif

I took mine on the track and if i had crashed it i couldn't afford to replace bits, i think thats maybe why there where so few Lexi there??? People don't have to go round like nutters and force themselves to over do it, i pushed it as much as i felt needed but im sure i could have pushed it more!!!! I have gained better knowledge of how my car handles in the wet and controlling it when it does go a bit sideways, days like this give you the oportunity to see what the limitations are of the car in a safe Environment, and there was plenty of run off if things did go wrong!

Jason tongue.gif
Steviewevie
Yeah if I'd have taken my Lex, I'd have probably come last time-wise laugh.gif

I can't imagine I'd suddenly have transformed into a banzai nutter and crashed my car (at least, I like to think that would be the case !), but it would be interesting to actually go onto a track and see how the car feels.

Who knows though, maybe with a crash helmet on, the red mist would have descended laugh.gif

Jason tongue.gif

the whole point of the day was to be able to drive your car in a way you felt safe with, in a safe environment, there were no prizes for the most damaged or for the fastest
one of the great lessons you learn is how to control your car and its limits and your limits, probably 80% of drivers drive way below their cars limits
yesterday was an example of how with slippery wet conditions no accidents occurred and everyone went home in the same way they came
your example of 2 hour hold ups on the M11, highlight that accidents can and do occur everyday on the roads,
accidents are very rare on track days, and normally there is only one person to blame

It would be great to see more lexus out there, the cars are quite capable,, as you have shown, and as the Toyota Aygo has shown us all year

think this place was level with birmingham just a bit to the east.

Gordon came from Manchester only took him 2 hours............

But TBH I can't see more than 3/4 bothering to come anyway
jason_l
If i can drive for 4 hours and over 200 miles to get there then surely most other people would have to drive less miles! I left my house at 4am to get there for 8 and spent the hole day driving and then drove home, all on my own. At the beginning of the day i had second thoughts about actually turning up because the weather looked crap and i really couldn't be bothered to drive all that way...............but once i had done a few laps i was loving it and couldn't get enough, hence the 24 runs i did. blush.gif

I think people shouldn't be put off by thinking they need to push their cars to the limits because as barrie has said you DONT!!!! I went away with a better understanding of handling my car and had great fun and thats what track days are about, the only let down of the day was the fact that there where no other lexus (other than dave) on the track. Even Chris and Aztec turned up to watch and i think that was enough to get them interested in joining in next time!?!?!? unsure.gif

as a comparison, times obtained at Barkston on a dry track

Gord IS200 S/C......67.03
Dave Aristo.............63.56
Bazza Aristo............63.66
Dave IS350 S/C......62.089
Bazza Starlet.......... 61.489

so you are looking roughly at 6-7 seconds difference between wet and dry
so Jason could be looking at a 67 second run in the dry whistling.gif

the lap record is (I believe) held by Adrian from Fensport at 52 seconds in the GT4 Corolla

Its always nice to see you at meets Chris and you are an example in dedication to us all! I was very tempted to take up the spare place available when Raj dropped out (found out at about 6pm Saturday) but on reading the guidelines it said their should be nothing loose in the car - I have most of the Aristo dash out (running some wires!) so it was too short notice and the BMW I wouldn't have been happy taking without some new brake pads. I hope to do it next year if it is on! biggrin.gif

would be great to see you entered.

You'll get a lot of press attention and have a good laugh

get your Toyo tyres ar trade prices as well...........

your main gain will be lightening the car............look for lightweight wheels.............you can get some that are 4kg each..............power to weight ratio.............way to go

bit of a budget buster but alloy front brake calipers are a good idea ...also give you bigger rotors to brake later & herder.............harder even...........

Think i may just do it then Dave! smile.gif

What do i need to do to register? and when is the first dates so i know when to be ready by? Don't think budget will stretch to bigger brakes yet but i can start looking for parts and loosing weight now!

It all sounds great Dave,

If I had the money I would love to enter and buy a motor and trailer it around to the events.

One day .................
