Hi guys im new here trying to find an answer hope you guys can help me.

I own a 1999 is 200. Always worked fine had no problems. I usually let the maintenance done by a friend of mine who is a fairly skilled mechanic so never been to a lexus or toyota shop before. I own the car for 4 years now and never had any problems.

Last fall i wanted to change the exhaust for a more sportive sound. Bought one from invidia from who i have been told has fairly good exhausts. I let my friend change the exhausts. The lamda probe just after the cat was put in to the new exhaust and everything was fine. I had fun with my new exhaust for about a month and a half suddenly my engine light turned on on the dashboard. Phoned my friend he phoned a toyota garage explained the problem and they told him it was probably the lamda probe reacting to the new exhaust and where adviced to first change the exhausts back. So whe did but the light stayed on. So next day i wanted to drive to the garage had to stop by the bank first and while driving to the bank my car sputtered seemed like he had no power even made a few strange vibrates along the way while accelerating. luckily i was at the bank that time stopped went inside came back out started the car and the light went out like normal and the car never drove better ever since. I never went to the garage i must say honestly didnt think it was neccessary at that time.

Now whe are about 8 months later and suddenly my engine light turns back on. My belts where changed recently checked them they are like new. There is nothing wrong with how the car drives it works just fine even in higher rpm. The motor runs as silently as always doesnt make strange noises. Doesnt smell funny or does something its not supposed to do. The only thing i can think of is that i had a battery failure last year and never changed it untill now altough everyone kept telling me to do so. Could that trigger the light ?

Just checked my exhaust and i have a verry tiny small opening between the last part and the next part of the exhaust. Could that trigger my probe ? Or should i worry more ?

Also i have loads of miles (km for me msn-wink.gif ) to go before my next maintenance.

Hope you guys can help me

Grtz

Take the car to a garage with a fault code reader and get the ECU fault code, thatll tell you the problem.
