Can any one tell me if the lead that connects the head unit to the cd changer is a std pioneer p series connector or a lexus special connection. I ask this as i am thinking about changing the cd changer to a 12 disc set up and mounting under the rear shelf. the head unit says that it is a pioneer head unit.

it is a lexus special on a mk3 i would of thought it would be the same on a mk2

Ok that scuppers that plan then, is there an adaptor cable available to link the head unit to a different type of changer. anyone else up graded the changer but retained the original head. and how did you do it????????

If you are planning on using a pioneer 12 disc changer and you have the required electronic skills you may be able to adapt the unit to work.
If I remember correctly Pioneer uses data lines (rx/tx) to control the changer from the head unit.
I have the service data for the 6 disc boot changer if this will help but it is to big to email.
Why are you replacing the standard 6 disc unit is it faulty?
Might be worth a look on ebay for a working unit which would be a straight swap.

i believe the stereo is designed especially for the LS400. i dont think the oem head unit will work with another changer..but try on clublexus.com for a better answer..lots more LS owners on there...
