has any one fixed the rough noise that the steering column makes occasionally when it retracts into the dash , it sounds like it needs greasing? the sound is like two surfaces rubbing together, making a vibrating low frequency noise.

Just a couple of questions on my air suspension
  • On the high setting does it only go up by 20mm? I cain't see 20mm making much difference?
  • I find on back roads the the sport setting seems to make the car a lot smoother, I would have thought it would be the other way round..? it feels quite bouncy in normal mode.

The high setting is only supposed to go up 18mm, mine only manages 14mm but acording to Lexus this is within tolerance.... can't see much point in it myself really
Sport mode stiffens the dampers and stops it feeling so boat like on twisty bits... personally I like the floaty feel of the normal setting

As for the steering wheel mine is very silent all I can suggest is a squirt of wd40 if you can see where to put it!!!
Maybe its the inner and outer plastic shroud rubbing on each other, you could try putting it all the way out and use some silicon spray on all the exposed plastic bits and see if that makes any difference.

Good luck

The noise was the shaft of the steering wheel, it moves up and down in a tight collar, the shaft is lubricated by what looks like a lithium grease, there were a couple of dry patches , so I just spread the excess grease around, now silent again smile.gif

With regard to the suspension, 18mm does not sound a lot, my friends A6 allroad on high it is supposed to have the same clearance as a land rover!

the only time I notice the air suspension is on a road with a steep camber, then it does some strange things..lol
