Dear All,

I hope you can help me with this issue I have been having.

I recently bought a RX300 and I park my car on my driveway which has a slope. When I put the car in reverse to drive out the driveway the vehicle rolls forward (I also tried reverse parking and driving forward in which case the car rolls back). I did not expect the car to do that as it is an automatic vehicle. I would be grateful if you can let me know if you have experienced a similar problem and what you have done in this situation.

I have spoken with Lexus Garage and they tell me they do not expect the vehicle hold on a slope. I found this surprising, I use to have an automatic A-Class before and I did not have this problem. Also, I have driven RX350 and that did not have the problem either.

Many Thanks

How steep is the gradient??

Not sure if yours is a Mk1 or 2 ? But I was suprised at just how steep a gradient my Mk1 will hold in drive, cannot say I have tried it in reverse though......

Hi David,

Thanks you for your thoughts. I am not sure about gradient at this moment, this is something I need to calculate.

One thing I am finding puzzling is in the morning the car holds the biting point with out any problem, however, as soon as the car is hot it does not hold.

Well I suppose it is just possible (depending on age and mileage) that the trans fluid is getting old, when its cold and "thicker" it maybe is working better but upon getting hot and thinner it fails to work up to spec?

Best regards David
