If I reduce the resoloution to the lowest level will that help ????

How big are the pictures Dave? Right click on one and select properties. Must be less than 100K

I think its in the right format, most cameras save as .jpg
Dave the file is too big, your need to make it smaller, the easiest way it to lower the resolution down to say 640x480 or 800x600

Dave, I normally take photos in high resolution (2mb each) and then the photo's I want to put on the web I save a copy with a lower resolution. You can do this with most photo editing tools.

Most digital cameras save as JPEGs as default. However their compression is not as much as it could be. Probably to keep the data level up for post processing.
After transfering to my PC I always resave it as a .jpg again as it will use a different compression ratio (which can be altered by user if want more/less) to reduce the file size.
You can get a near 2MB JPEG down to about 200K like this and still not have to use an offensive ratio!
